Interesting.

I don't know how many people watch WWL at 7 pm on a Monday night?

Landrieu--Why didn't Bill Cassidy show up???

I think Maness is getting some votes if any republicans are watching.

Not sure about this move. Obviously a calculated decision just wonder the strategity behind it.

Probably thinking this debate is pointless. He will show up when it counts during the runoff

it is perplexing that he can't man the frick up and not sound stupid in public

HOWEVER, his job is to vote how his constituents want him to vote, so it doesn't matter

The largest TV station in the most republican congressional district in the state AND the largest TV station in the most democratic district in the state.

Interesting Cassidy seems to be almost conceding the first and second district to Maness and Landrieu.

There's a couple factors why this is so.

This election always was a repudiation against Mary and the GOP candidate only needed to not be crazy and have a just decent record and Cassidy has that covered.

Bill knows he's awkward looking and wonkish and it's FTR he would not be running in any other election. He and his campaign staff are doing a good job of limiting exposure of that weakness of Cassidy's personality and he can afford to do that due to this type of election against Mary.

Mary just said she hopes Maness makes the run off so she will have someone to debate in the runoff. She is jabbing the absent Cassidy pretty hard.

I would be worried if Landrieu gets to the runoff...she will use all of her political influence and power to get as many voters to the polls as possible to vote for her

Of course she is. She's a senior incumbent and about to have to get a non-public job for the first time in her life.

Mary was clearly overly complimentary of Maness as the debate ran down.

She is a smart politician. She knows she will need some of those Maness votes in a runoff. Several times she said "I agree with the Colonel".

First commercial after the debate was the Landrieu commercial where she uses the "hold my nose" quote.

He should pay attention to John Couvillon's analyst of the first four days of early voting.

A. When you're ahead in the polls, you don't debate. That's political strategy 101.

B. You don't debate when you're in the middle. Getting attacked from both ends gets you nowhere.

C. Mary is eager hard on to debate cause she wants to show off how conservative she is.

Whether you like it or not, and and we know you don't, Cassidy is making a very calculated move by not debating.
