This is why we need open borders. So anyone who is poor can come here and get money. Our government has enough to support these people. No point in living in poverty elsewhere

Yes, some jobs will become obsolete, but other sectors will begin to pop up... entire new industries will emerge just like it has in the past... buggy makers went obsolete and they turned into auto workers and massively expanded the industry
To assume all these jobs going obsolete will leave a vast majority of people without the ability to provide for their family is questionable at best... again, history has already proven my arguement... we will adapt and be better for it

this will cause a global Great Depression worse than we've ever seen before.
GET THE frick OUT WITH THE UBI BULLSHITE.
No one is going to pay you to sit on your fricking arse. At least not half of the US. You can't really trust liberals to do the right thing anymore.

The only thing that kills capitalism is despotism.

This automation going to build itself?
At some point it will. We already have 3D printers that can self-replicate.
I think it's a long way off before automation takes over the jobs that will be created by new technologies though. At some point AI will surpass the human brain and at that point people will be truly obsolete.
At some point in the future all computer programs will be written be other computer programs. Robots will be built and repaired by other robots.

People still believe this lie?

Automation has been happening for hundreds of years.
Assembly lines, tractors, computers, etc.
Automation is not some new thing on the horizon. It's been here.
Welcome!

Sounds you support a culling of the masses

That's true but this is the first time in human history when automation has the potential to create itself.
Computers have never been as smart as a person but that day is coming. If AI advances to the point that it is indistinguishable from a human brain then what job is "safe" from automation?

Workers just need to become more educated in things that can't be done through automation. It will be a long time before robots are able to crawl under a house and fix plumping or a heating and air conditioning system, etc.

People have been saying this same dumb shite every time there is a technological paradigm shift. If we listened to paranoid, self-serving ravings like yours we'd still be driving horse and buggy.
You are completely transparent by the way, it is obvious you are committed to your ideology to the point that you would sacrifice the future of humanity to ensure that socialism "wins" and so you can finally be declared, "right". You are sick, get help.

The same thing was said in the 70's and look where we are now: under 5% unemployment even with ~12M illegals here doing jobs "Americans won't do".
Learn from history.

Tech will take more lower level jobs and grow the welfare state before anything else. Other jobs may follow but more machines mean more skilled jobs to work on those machines.
Tech and higher corporate taxes are exactly why our economy has become much more service based over the last few decades. Americans are very savvy in creating products and services to fill needs. This will continue.
People want good service. Customer service is becoming a thing of the past. It's why companies have outsourced skilled and are now bringing those back in house. You get what you pay for and everything is cyclical.
The 'living wage' will never be enough for people to live on, based on the standards we have created.

Both of those accelerates capitalism!
And as we have had both already and capitalism is still here you must see how one would disagree with you.
