He appears to be pretty crazy and it seems that he doesn't care about the well-being of his people...

BUT

If you were the dictator of a smaller, poorer country, wouldn't you pursue nuclear proliferation? I mean, the only countries on earth that are truly safe from an invasion/takeover from a larger country are those that have nuclear weapons. I expect to be downvoted but whatevs

His family is the reason the country is impoverished. You don't see this idiocy from Japan or South Korea.

Despite the biased western medias portrayal of best korea, Dennis rodman has stated how it's a libertarian paradise many times. No inspection sticker required for your car, you can buy booze in the self checkout etc

If anything, history has shown that if you want to protect yourself from getting invaded, keep your stuff within your own borders.

You can freely genocide within them apparently, but once things spill out, or you provide a tangible threat to another state, then you get all kinds of attention you never wanted.

It seems with each passing day, our society loses more and more of its ability to follow logical and sensible forms of thought.

This thread is merely a single example of thousands out there.

I I were the leader of North Korea my first inclination would be to foster goodwill towards the south and push for reconciliation.

No. I'd pursue reunification with South Korea and commit to free market capitalism. I'd go down in history as a very great man.

No way, history is full of examples of nations invading other nations unprovoked. Id hazard to guess many more wars were fought unprovoked (conquer new land) than due to a retaliatory reason.

Clarification: modern history involving despots and dictators getting forcibly removed by countries who really have no direct connection to them.

Sadam Hussein didn't have WMD and look what happened to him

Qaddafi gave up his WMD and look what happened to him

Assad held on to his and has held on to power

If you are Kim Jong-un what lessons have you learned?

He proclaimed that he did.

You'll have to ask Hillary about that one. I still don't get it.

Because Russia has his back.

Already answered. Threaten and bitch. Go to talks. Get 1 Billion from the US which doubles your GDP. Continue your life as the only fat person in NK.

Proven false.

Quaddafi and Libya were the victim of an idiot democrat president and administration, who at the very least has a boatload of romantic notions about Islam. Obama, Clinton, and the rest of his administration fiddled as any vulnerable leaders in the middle east who weren't actively looking to terrorize the west were removed during the "Arab Spring."

Assad had backing from Russia, just like Libya and Egypt should have had from us.

How are gods like Kim Jong-un and Barak Obama supposed to learn lessons, when their state owned media only praises them, and if they mention their opposition, it's only to point out what racist, bigoted, homophobic, islamophobic, fascist Nazis they are?

He murdered the man who raised him, out of paranoia.

He is a fatass who allows his people to starve.

His haircut sucks.

The majority of people will say they're all batshit crazy and brainwashed.. yet every North Korean has been living under the sword of Damocles, not just the Kim's.

Look at the hysteria and crazies we see from America's leftist today and that's without there being a real threat of being executed.

Or if you possess natural resources that others covet.
