Sure. We pressure countries to do our bidding every day of the week.

That's another joke about this. The Dems are claiming he did it for personal benefit.

What the deep state is really upset about is that Trump is changing precedent and investigating past executives. That never really happens. Presidents and Vice presidents were supposed to be untouchable on how they made their money while in office.

Yes it can. It can also be argued that the President is in charge of the Justice Department and it is his duty to pressure the Ukraine into investigating Biden.

There should be a quid pro quo for every dollar in aid that we send over seas. If we do this (aid) then you will do that (whatever we tie the aid to). Foreign aid should come in a zero based budget starting over every year from those countries requesting aid. Every dollar should have an ear mark. If they use it for something else, then they get zero the next. It should be audited every year or so.

Personally, the only foreign aid that we spend should only be in the form of aid that ensures our national security.

if all aid is earmarked and audited, how will our elected officials launder money back to themselves?!?!?

It's absolutely in the national interest to know if a potential future president could be under the influence of foreign blackmail.

It's the exact reason that the dems wanted a special prosecutor to look at muh Russia.

What the whole Russia hoax and this particular charade boil down to is simply this: Donald J. Trump is an outsider. He’s already wealthy, so he can’t be bought, and thusly, can’t be trusted by the established corrupt powers-that-be. So he must be neutered at the very least, or (best case scenario) removed, so that someone more controllable (or at least beatable) can take his place, and thus restore the past status quo.

It’s like a police force of 100 that’s got 99 corrupt cops. None of them trust that one honest cop, so they do what they can to undermine, if not outright get rid of, him. By setting him up, if necessary.

He's a bull in their fancy uptown china cabinet. And he takes a pleasure in wrecking it.

I think that’s pretty much what they’ve said all along.

Rudy Giuliani Plans Ukraine Trip to Push for Inquiries That Could Help Trump

trump to Zelensky:

"Mr. Giuliani is a highly respected man. He was the mayor of New York City, a great mayor, and I would like him to call you."

if everything was above board and this was purely government business, why is there no record of it?

why was it never announced?

why was the "perfect" phone call buried on an off-the-books server?

why was his personal attorney the point man and insisting this was personal, not professional?

If the money was frozen with legit conditions placed on Zelensky to investigate corruption, why was it immediately unfrozen after the whistle blowers report, despite Zelensky not meeting any of those conditions?

The "off the books" server is where all of the calls between heads of state go. That's so they don't get leaked by the upstanding Dems.

85% of Trump and Giuliani's efforts in the whole thing, including the phone call, have been and were geared toward Crowdstrike/potential Ukrainian election meddling in 2016. Leaving the 15% about Bidens. Bidens were very secondary.

Of course the Democrats' case is reliant on flipping those numbers, aka lying.

Foreign aid is the definition of “quid pro quo”. We give you money/aid and you do what we want. It’s only happened since we became a world power.

Wrong. If Trump wanted Biden investigated, he should have had the FBI investigate.

Trump didn't want to be accused of investigating a political rival, so he sent Giuliani to Ukraine to get them to investigate Biden.

Why did Trump have the FBI investigate?

Crickets.
