LINK

It seems Louisiana and other states have been too successful taking movie productions away from California using tax credits as an incentive.

That's the thing about corporate subsidies, it becomes a race to the bottom to see who's the most desparate.

So a bankrupt state is going to give more tax breaks just to keep movies from being filmed elsewhere? Just dumb. Especially if you bbelieve the idiots who thinks it serves no purpose in Louisiana and we are losing money....which is it idiots?

California is not "bankrupt".

It depends on what their "credit" system looks like. If it's actually just a thinly-disguised rebate subsidy like Louisiana, then yes, they are stupid.

Will people in DC be outraged when companies move to take advantage of the favourable tax climate or will they reserve that for companies that move offshore for the same reasons?

There's a clear difference between a lower tax burden and having one's operations needlessly propped up by taxpayers via subsidies.

Looks like Jindal is going to have to up the ante and just finance 100% of the production company's operations now.

Don't worry. Jindal's 100% checked out of Louisiana now. He doesn't give a shite unless it could affect his national profile, i.e. the whole Common Core fiasco.

IB hasn't posted yet? Maybe the I-Beacon doesn't go off unless "Jindal" is mentioned as well?

Contradicts with:

so..

If the subsidy is smart for Louisiana, then logic dictates that it would be smart for California, too.

So Louisiana was just 'leverage' to get California to offer bigger tax incentives?

I'm waiting for IB's California doppelganger to show and tell us how bad a deal this for California.
