This was always a Governor Brown boondoggle.

It was a ballot initiative that passed before he became governor.

Such a stupid idea. No one is going to use that thing.

Millions would use it. Maybe you wouldn't but you're really out of touch if you think there's no demand for this service.

It's a good thing that we already have an interstate highway system. If we were to try and build it today half the country would oppose it. Seriously.

Yes, everyone I know here in SoCal wants a "fast train" with stops in Bakersfield, Fresno, and Placerville on our way to an epic weekend in Sacramento.

It's a stupid idea, and it will never happen.

This is being funded primarily by state money and investors
Which, if it was budgeted prior to Trump´s election, should be reviewed with much scrutiny.

It will also go to SF but if you can't figure out how to get anywhere but Sacramento, you have me convinced that it's not for you.

You do realize that it's already under construction?

Trump is big on infrastructure.

CAHSR gets a lot of money from green house gas legislation. A lot.

They're issuing bonds (more debt) and the state's operating budget is damn near the size of La's GSP.

That, and this $928 million grant from the federal government. And the $2.5 billion grant this project got from Obama's stimulus.

So there are "millions" of people not flying back and forth just waiting to use this train.

I do believe liberals masturbate thinking about trains.

very disingenuous when some states have only 1-3 representatives in Congress

flying's pretty expensive... trains are safer and get you there for a lower cost

A bullet train should be the least of their worries these days.

Agreed. But this just the kind of infrastructure investment Trump's been trumpeting. And a bullet train from San Dog to Sacramento sounds pretty awesome.

A bullet to the head of Jerry Brown sounds even more awesome.

Hypothetically speaking of course.

Your masturbation fantasies aside, yes. A majority voted for the train. Does that not give you some clue of the demand?

Bullet trains are very useful, the deal needs to be restudied, however.
