It would probably open up a lot of the Central Valley to development....potentially making housing in California more affordable.

Actually that would potentially increase their demand for water.

Agreed. But this just the kind of infrastructure investment Trump's been trumpeting. And a bullet train from San Dog to Sacramento sounds pretty awesome
The bullet train project going into Texas from DFW to Houston is a 100% private project. It will have a positive impact on the entire state, and will do so without using federal government grants or government subsidies to support its operation or construction.

Texas Central Bullet Train

Personally, I'll be glad when American Airlines and Southwest Airlines have competition to get to Houston. They, of course, lobby to try and prevent this from going in.

Quick note. This is being funded primarily by state money and investors. They could theoretically proceed without federal support.

There is no state money. Cali is nearly half a trillion dollars in debt.

"Sorely needed in this country". I thought Cali. wanted to leave this country? They could take that $25K a mth they are paying E.Holder to fight the POTUS and put it towards said bullet train costs. Calif. is the most highly political biased state in the country, bar none. Why should POTUS Trump go out of his way to help when they are literally fighting him every step of the way.?

Didn't Sen. Diane Feinstein’s husband get the contract for the first phase of this project?

They're issuing bonds (more debt) and the state's operating budget is damn near the size of La's GSP.

This was always a Governor Brown boondoggle.

Such a stupid idea. No one is going to use that thing.

This is why when people say a wall that cost 15 billion is too expensive, they are being disingenuous. The government pisses money away on less important projects

Calif. is the most highly political biased state in the country,
15 states in this congress have single party delegations to congress--9 GOP and 6 Dem. California's House delegation is over 26% GOP. That beats almost all southern states in "minority party" representation.
