The biggest fricking dorks I've ever known were almost to a man involved in Boy Scouts for some length of time.
Boy Scouts and karate for some reason attract them it seems.

As a former boy scout I have mixed feelings on this. I think it's great BSA wants to me more inclusive. I don't think other kids are going to treat transgender kids with respect though. They are going to get bullied like crazy.

True. I had my son in it for about 3 months and it was freaking nerd city. I didn't need to convince him he should stop going.

I think both are probably due to the correlation with the general social awkwardness of kids whose entire social circle revolves around church/homeschooling, and these are the kids often found in Upward sports and Boy Scouts.
