I've long advocated placing automated machine guns on the wall that can be controlled remotely from a website. The user just has to pay a fee to use the machine gun for a certain amount of time. That way we can pay for the wall AND shoot the illegals as they try to scale the wall.

Brilliant idea. I can finally put my FPS skills to use.

I pointed out why some think making the wall into a tourist attraction it would be in poor taste. Stop being a count.

"Designs must be able to repel pickaxes and sledgehammers for at least an hour and be aesthetically pleasing from the north side."

WOW.....who ever is writing these spec's is a fricking genius. Aesthetically pleasing??? There is no way to quantify that.....so what happens is the contractor designs a drab arse example of a wall and the CO and design authority take them to task over it not being aesthetically pleasing....and the contractor asks for a quantifiable measure, which does not exist, and so they start initiating change order after change order after change order....and the company that the CO and the design authority wanted in the first place is chosen no matter how low their bid because their design is the only one that meets this unmeasurable requirement...so the other offerrors challenge the results, everybody lawyers up and in about 6 years they decide to recompete it...meanwhile the company that the design authority and the CO wanted all along has been working on and being paid for the design they originally submitted and at the end of the day the $20 billion project is costing $220 million and the tax payers wonder why???

And why a pick axe and sledge hammer for an hour? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA....that tells anyone all they need to know about where the fricking thing is going to be built...The majority of the length of this wall is going to be an hour away from any sort of authority who could respond to 59 minutes of someone wailing the hell out of a piece of government property FROM A FOREIGN NATION with a sledge hammer or a pick axe.....but no mention of a fricking skid steer with a jack hammer attachment....

Whoever added the pick axe /sledge hammer language did so as a fricking joke....BLEEVE me!!!

This is how government spending gets out of control. You don't see shite like "aesthetically pleasing" being used as a performance metric in the private sector....and savvy estimators see shite like that and start salivating at the idea of the change orders that will be forthcoming....

it's good to see that you have no idea what your fricking talking about as it relates to Government Contracting but that it didn't stop you from offering your uninformed opinion. Now far be it from me to defend the entire Government Contracting process because it has many flaws. But they have these cool things called design reviews that are Milestones at multiple stages in the Contracting process. PDRs, CDRs etc. In addition typically there are government Representatives that are part of the IPT in the design process.

This stuff isn't super secret either you can look it up if you actually want to be informed

Nah, web based triggers where you can log in from anywhere and shoot a messican trying to cross. $100 a shot.

This paragraph really amused me.

It's fun when people sort of are familiar with a subject but not really.

If I were you I just sort of avoid this discussion from here forward

You can vacation to the southwest and watch the mescans try to get in, only to be repelled.

Set up Wall Top Casinos where you can place bets on if someone will make it or not. Odds based on number of people trying to cross, their age, etc. A portion of winnings go to fund more wall. Win Win for everyone. If you make it over, you get to enter a lottery to become a citizen. Who could possibly be against such a win win scenario?

Maybe they'll have machine guns on pintles that you can put quarters in instead of telescopes.

That would explain the high number of Aggie posters, as they tend to like assholes.

Every other country in the world enforces their laws against ILLEGAL immigration. Don't let your sorry snowflake arse get caught in Mexico without proper documentation, 1215. They can keep you in jail for up to 10 years.

Something tells me that they wouldn't want to keep you, though.

I'm all against illegal immigration, but some of you forget that the majority these people come because they are seeking a better life. (Save the sensationalized news headlines. All illegals don't come here with the sole intent of committing murder.)

This ain't a fricking game or laughing matter. Anyone taking any joy off of the misery and misfortunes of people who weren't lucky enough to be born here is just evil. Count your blessings that you were born in America and not some crime ridden shithole like Honduras.

What's stopping them from coming here legally?
