Aren't going to be made by Dave the former call center assistant in India. Those LRUs ( line replaceable units) will be made here then shipped over and slide in and bingo Avionics suite is complete.

So when Boeing wanted to open a plant in the traditionally nonunion Southeast the Dems ran around with there hair on fire! Now threatens to open a plant in India and compromise by building it in the Southeast! No way a Republican congress and Trump buy American fighters made outside of the US. Now the Clinton Crime Family Foundation would probably have resulted in the F-?? being built in China!

No. That is too absolute. And damn sure not wise if we are speaking of defense technology. No way in hell should we allow the exporting of that manufacturing technology.

No. There is plenty of waste in defense spending, I'm sure. That is a different issue from the defense budget as a part of our national economy...it ain't all waste.

What Technology? do you think turning a billet of aluminum into a bulkhead is cosmic?

I think the jets have more sensitive components than molding aluminum, though I'm not certain I support even allowing that technology to be exported, when it comes to weaponry of this type.

Build these things here...sell them to the right buyer. This is not the time to teach India to fish...sell them the damn fish.

Fighters are always cutting edge in avionics, materials, manufacture techniques, and technology.

several points here:

The technology that compromises the wing and airframe is widely known already. it's not proprietary, because we already sold it across the globe. The US sold its F35 design to the Japanese too.

Software and sensitive components don't have to be compromised even if its built in India. That's pretty simple to understand.

All government spending is consumption from an economics standpoint. Every penny.

That's what im wondering. Its not like the basic concept of an airframe is built on alchemy.

Airframe alone: choosing different alloys and composites and binding them together. Plus advanced design, stealth technology, and materials.

One wouldn't want an Airbus to sneak up on a controll tower, but that comes in handy if you want to turn it into rubble!

The F-16 is mid seventies technology.

The Avionics suite will not be built in India it will be built by Lockheed and a ton of sub contractors just like the always have, they will be gray boxes slid into the airframe in India by wait for it, Lockheed peeps.

Those gray boxes (when they fail) will be sent to Hill AFB to be repaired at the depot or Air Logistic Center to be precise. Or maybe to the prime vendor.

They will not be repaired in India.

The F-16 doesn't have some super secret design.

Understood it is considered "old" in some ways. Would still rather build and sell, than show my consumer how to cut me out of the market. And I'd like to maintain a little more control over the end user of my weaponly , if possible.

Just call me dumb that way. Guess I'm just not enough of a Globalist to get this. Get the hell off my lawn!!

They aren't all support and the technology will reside with Lockheed. They are going to be an assembly line that's all.
