IMO the biggest political mistake was Germany declaring war on the US on Dec 8, 1941

Would not have mattered. Once the US declared war on Japan they would have fought with the Brits in Europe anyway.

This has to be pretty high on the list considering the consequences.

Trump winning the election could be just the tipping point. No telling what the fallout from Weiner's laptop will be with regards to the FBI, DOJ, Obama and Clinton associates, etc.

No.
The Russians lost more people in a single battle than we lost in the entire war and we had a much larger population.
Had we struggled like Russia, backs against the wall and with our nearly untouchable production we could have won with no European allies.

Nixon deciding to debate Kennedy on tv

that old chestnut.

don hewitt who produced the debate pushed that narrative his entire miserable life. nixon refused make up, he sweated, for the first time the visual aspect of TV mattered those that watched the debate on television thought kennedy won, those that listened to on the radio thought nixon won.

here's the problem with that, about 100 million people tuned into the debate at a time when only 30 million people had a television television set and over 70 million listened to it on their radios. radio in 1960 was the still the predominate medium in 1960 so if that were true the debate favored nixon.

that debate had no effect at all on the race LBJ delivering texas and mayor daley delivering chicago and by extension illinois won that race for kennedy.

now you know and knowing is half the battle according to GI joe.

Jews declaring jesus guilty of heresy for the crime of claiming identity with the divine person.

I and the Father are One.

Jews ended up scapegoats.

Western world missed out on the Truth of what jesus said, as it applies to all of us. We are each and all, one with the only One that is.

The presumption of non-unity and taboos that enforce that view lead to all political problems there are.

Truman putting the leash on MacArthur.

Japan not changing their codes in 1943. Cost them Yamamoto and the Battle of Midway.

Throw in Japan attacking Pearl Harbor and declaring war on the U.S. on a day when no aircraft carriers were docked in Pearl.

Mugambe's agricultural "reforms."

Britain giving Hong Kong back to China.

Brah, the leaders of the CSA wanted to be put on trial for treason. They weren't for a very specific reason: they would have been found innocent. There is a shite ton of correspondence out there about this. Do some fricking research.

It's a matter of perspective.

Tens of millions of now dead Asians would say not surrendering the city to the Mongols was the worst political mistake ever.

Big picture, I think it's Louis XVI not recognizing how big of a problem he had brewing so he could nip it early. That era of France birthed the modern radical left that ultimately produced socialism and communism. Without those, the 20th century would probably have been a much better experience.

If there was any chance of him doing that, they never would have surrendered. Lee would have taken his army to the hills for guerilla warfare. The Soviet and US war machines couldn't crush middle eastern goat-sodomizers who took to guerilla warfare. What chance did the union have against soldiers who were at least their equal man for man in conventional warfare?

Union could have laid waste to the south like Sherman did, but if he tried to execute traitors, they would have kept fighting.

Pontius Pilate's decision to let the crowd choose Barrabas over Jesus.

If Jesus had not been crucified, would Christianity even exist?

Christianity has had more influence over history and the world than anything I can think of.

Note: I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I am a Catholic.
