How much of that money goes into pensions that can be collected way too soon? Teachers and school admin shouldn't be allowed to collect their pensions until age 65.

Democrat one party rule forever

Everything will equal the Baltimore public schools everywhere they control.

Ever notice how the phrase "economic growth" never comes out of their mouths?

There is no doubt that is a shite hole. My question is, how much of their money is dedicated solely to special education. If one student has a teacher, an aide, an “adaptive PE teacher, a special education case worker, their own physical classroom, and a nurse...then that is quite a few pennies tied up in the educational “needs” of that one child. Let’s say the child is in a vegetative state, exactly what is the goal. While dumbocrats are the typical culprits, the redumblican mantra of “no child left behind” has a hand in this nonsense as well.

No child left behind was stupid, but it wasn't about special education, it was more the test scores and a whole and never allowing schools to fail kids again. It was also bipartisan.

You're looking for FAPE. Which again, is a bipartisan mandate.

Keep looking, eventually you'll find something in education to blame solely on the right.

More money, more money, more money. We are underfunded is what every libtard in the world will scream about every situation. We have no correlation to money spent and a good education. None, zero, zilch.

They get all this money, and the schools usually spend it all on sports stadiums and stupid shite that doesn’t educate anyone.

While some of it goes to stadiums, the majority is wasted on administration.

My wife is a teacher, and the school district where she lives pays the superintendent around $250K/year. The assistants (there are several of them) make around $200K. The central office where they work takes up half a city block. There are waaaayyyyyy too many admins below them who do nothing all day but go to meetings.

The curriculum is set by the state, yet there are literally people whose job it is to 'monitor' whether teachers are teaching the curriculum down to an incredibly stupid level. For instance, there is a job for "3rd Grade Math Curriculum Coordinator." Really? We need to pay someone $80K+/year to deal with JUST math for 3rd graders?!? It's insane.

Also, I think school systems need to get out of the transportation business. Have some busses handy for school activities, but it should NOT be the school system's responsibility to get YOUR kid to school. Carpooling still works great.

The US public school system is the biggest sham we have. We drop massive amounts of money into these systems and see little to no return on the investment. I refuse to vote yes for more school funding on a local, state or federal level until they show me they can spend their current funds efficiently.

And teacher's union is killing public for more budgets.
Make all unions with gov. budgets illegal.

Republican Jefferson Parish shut all their schools today because they were worried there wasn't enough working heaters for this frigid 45 degree day.

Follow the money.

I’m sure that a huge chunk of any spending in a school district goes directly to salaries or legacy costs such as retirement for former employees.

If schools can’t have heat to have class they don’t need Middle management assholes like DeRay who work in a “diversity” role.

I’d actually be ok with excusing a southern school. They’re not really used to the cold. But Baltimore not having heaters in the middle of winter is ridiculous.

Democratic president for 8 years
Democratic city government since forever
High Democratic voter base

And no one can quite figure out what the issue is therr....shocker

I wonder how much the city spent letting BLM criminals destroy the city over a thug POSs death?

It goes on and on. It's mind numbing to me why ANYONE with an option of living elsewhere, would voluntarily live in shithole big cities

Bi-partisan stupidity is still stupidity. Basically pick an acronym and I would wager that there is tremendous waste involved.

What is going on here? Why are our inner city schools so plagued by unmet basic needs and services?
Inner cities were severely neglected following white flight in the 60's and 70's. Finally day to day operations picked up in the late 90's but they were left with dilapidated schools around 100 years old, converted factory buildings, etc.

We spend a larger amount of money in the urban areas, but a lot of that is spent on maintaining very old buildings. Trenton's main high school just started new construction to replace the 100+ year old building. Half of Trenton students still attend school in a 100+ year old former elementary school.

Harvard University is still utilizing buildings built in the early 1700s.

Because absolutely no one gives a shite about education in those areas. Those areas are plagued with violence and crime, why would any self-respecting teacher ever go there to teach? "Hey good job today, but sorry your car got broken into while you were in class, sorry! We hope you will be back tomorrow!"
