And btw, libraries also lend out e-books, videos, etc nowadays. Or maybe yours doesn't because of all the trailer trash complaining about their taxes

Government should not be funding these things. Lol at thinking of me as trailer trash simply because I hate paying taxes. I have a masters degree and am one of the most erudite individuals you would ever meet.

How much do you think property taxes should be?

Practically zero. I would pay for fire department, mosquito abatement, and police for my area. Nothing else on my bill seems at all reasonable.

Well for one, I do. I pay ~$400/year for 52 acres + ~ $400k of improvements. Don't got no services, and don't want no services.

IB4 gumpland! Hey, I'm living the American Dream and wonder how many know what that is anymore.

Of course you seem to believe that a Masters degree sets you on some distinctive level too.

But OK. You are not "trailer park" trash, technically speaking.

I hope there aren't really people who think like that.

Please tell the OP where you live then. Hopefully he can stop bothering his neighbors then.

Yup, you are living your own version of the American Dream. And if we can just put all of you like minded Americans in one place then the rest of us can suffer with our libraries, paved roads, public schools, etc.

There are quite a few of us. Most of my close friends. We are mostly libertarian.

If you don't like libraries or public schools, don't move into a neighborhood with them and then complain about paying for them.

Atlas Shrugged is my favorite book. I hope to one day create a libertarian paradise like they did in the book.

Or we could just put everyone like you that is ok with spending whatever on everything then that'd be great.

You do know that Ayn Rand took government assistance to pay for her medical treatments?

While deeply disappointing, that in no way, shape, or form changes how I feel about the book.

So we should only pay for the things that you think are reasonable? That doesn't sound like a democracy to me...sounds more like a dictatorship. Do you want to live in a dictatorship?

So government, it all its beautiful efficiency and accountability, is the best way to handle this?

I give to charities of my choosing and of my own free will. Those charities help the poor - that is why I choose them. Government is the not the solution to our problems. It is the problem.
