ACA Improved Care and Health Among Low-Income Adults

Conclusion:
Monday's going to be fun!

For uninsured people gaining coverage, this change was associated with a 41-percentage-point increase in having a usual source of care, a $337 reduction in annual out-of-pocket spending, significant increases in preventive health visits and glucose testing, and a 23-percentage-point increase in “excellent” self-reported health.
quote:
Adults with chronic conditions—often called “preexisting conditions” in the current policy debate—saw numerous improvements in both access to and quality of care, including more checkups, improved adherence to medications, higher rates of regular care for chronic disease, and—perhaps as a consequence of these changes—improved self-reported health. These findings build on a previous study using national data through 2014 that showed gains in two access measures for adults with chronic conditions (having a checkup and no cost-related delays in care).39 However, our study included a much richer set of outcomes and two additional years of data.
Conclusion:
quote:
Over three years of coverage expansion in two states, the ACA was associated with statistically significant and clinically relevant improvements for low-income adults’ access to care, use of preventive services, and self-reported health. Among those with chronic conditions, coverage expansion was linked to improved medication adherence, more regular communication with physicians, and improved perceived health status. As policy makers debate the ACA’s future and additional states consider whether to expand Medicaid, our findings demonstrate the benefits associated with coverage expansion for two particularly vulnerable populations: low-income adults and those with chronic conditions.

So basically what they are saying is I should pay more in insurance even though I have not been to the doctor in 2 years because it helps people who choose not to work?

the swamp will never make healthcare affordable it is a lever of government, and they are taking big checks from the people happy with status quo.
They will toy with covering less things or less people, but they will never honestly attack affordability.

No, it didn't.
It further turned ED's into primary physician centers.

The AHCA covers fewer people, with worse coverage, and is less affordable.
So Republicans are doing just that.

Self Perceived health, per the article

Good that it covers less people. Government leeches shouldn't have coverage. Let them die off of easily curable diseases like dysentery

Our governor just kicked 68,000 people Medicaid last week. Medicaid enrollees make up one fifth of our population. He also ordered that for those physically able, get a job to get your benefits.

Lol
Turns out free care means people use free care.

ACA would be dead in a couple years. It would suck to be someone that has to use it. Pay out the arse to make you feel warm and fuzzy about being covered.

Obamacare sucks and is a failed experiment.

Wow, this is so wrong in so many ways. America, purposefully, cost shifted access and care, at the expense of one class over another, and you only cite the benefits of the takers. Well, I be damned, can't believe they benefited. Is this a "no shite" post, just asking for a friend.

Any idiot should know that when the Dems don't defend the crap known as Obocare and attack the Reps proposed plan, then Obacare is running on one cylinder.

Maybe I'm mistaken because it was difficult to discern what their first stage dependent variable was, but if it was binary, then their model falls into the forbidden regression category and the estimates are practically useless. Also, I didn't see any testing for instrument validity, so again the estimates are useless.

Obamacare is in a death spiral. It is a terminal patient. The fact you'd want obamacare to die leaving millions of Americans in a lurch, rather than replacing it, is repugnant.
