Actually him being a pussy and not having a set like tDonald is why we didn't have a President Perot and no NAFTA, no Clinton(s) and a lot of the other bullshite we've had to endure.

I think what ruined his chance of being President was lost when he introduced his running mate. That guy was looney tunes.

I was a child back in them days so I don't know who that is but if I had to guess it would be assassination insurance (if the guy actually was looney).

Just think if George H would have recognized the danger of NAFTA .

George H did not get the blue collar factory worker any more than HRC did.

I get that it's sad to see manufacturing jobs go by the wayside. But a lot of it is a natural progression of our technological advancements as well.

What I don't get though, is why we aren't focusing on the fact that there has been record job openings going unfilled.

There are jobs available, why don't we figure out ways to get the filled (education, skills, etc.) too? And if we can add even more jobs, manufacturing or otherwise, then that's even better.

I don't believe this perspective is realistic. You aren't training hammer swingers to be financial analysts no matter how much we would all like that to be possible. You are always going to have a capability distribution with a ton of people who aren't capable of performing "21st century" jobs.

So you have one of a few options:

1) Let them starve
2) Protect their jobs
3) Allow their jobs to vanish and tax the shite of out of the increased productivity and give them money

1 sucks , 2 hurts the overall economy, and 3 destroys people

Of course not. But there are plenty of lower skilled jobs available.

I just had a conversation with some educators, and apparently there are hundreds of bus driving positions, clerical positions, etc. that can't be filled within Columbus City Schools.

Granted, unemployment is low here, and the economy is booming, but jobs are available only a couple hours from the heart of the Rust Belt.

And Amazon just opened some centers here, and are constantly advertising the jobs available. Those are low skill jobs too.

There's a way to fill unfilled low skill jobs without any government intervention whatsoever.

Sure. But why are we so depressed about job loss when there are jobs available?

I guess we lump a lot into low skill, but are we really equating auto assembly and bus driving ?

So, it's HIS fault that Americans are dumbed-down, ignorant, narcissistic sheople.

Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering who's fault it is/was.

No, but I don't see how we can fret about a lack of jobs, when there are over 5 million jobs available across various skill levels and educational requirements.

This was my first time voting so I remember the election.
Perot's VP pick was a senile retired admiral from the civil war. The VP debate was cringeworthy, sad and comic gold.
