I dont think ive ever seen one

Nope, I asked when I moved here.... I am not sure what it would take to get an LSU plate in TX. (there is probably more then enough support in the Houston area alone)
Posted on 6/30/08 at 2:53 pm to CrackWagon
I doubt it...If ain't for Texas, about Texas or by Texas, Texas wants nothing to do with it.

There is probably a constitutional amendment banning it. Texas is an OK state, but that "We were our own country" mentality can get annoying sometimes. That being said we have a much better chance to make an LSU plate happen, than the sooners have of getting an OU plate. Ha..

I don't know how Houston is, but down here in South Texas, all these people know about is the Cowboys. I don't think they even know college football even exist..... (but hell what should I expect, I live near the border; My neighbors think I am the Huero LOCO, because I have the LSU flag flying high on the house)

Allow me to chime in if I may... Likely due to the large number of schools and affiliations present here already, and the growing number of carpet baggers, Texas is 100x more tolerant of outsiders' rooting interests than Arkansas, Oklahoma, or say..... Louisiana.
We still ain't gonna allow it though.

Texas Specialty Plate Requirements
If the requested specialty plate and preliminary design are approved, TxDOT will send written notification along with a Request for Manufacture of Specialty Plate for Organizations form and packet. TxDOT will coordinate the final design. An $8,000 deposit will be required prior to the specialty license plate being manufactured.
Interested groups should submit an application. Only not-for-profit groups are eligible to apply. The two methods for requesting a new specialty license plate are listed below:
1. Nominate a state agency to receive the funds from the sale of your specialty plates and work with that agency to identify how these funds will be used. The state agency will receive $22 for the sale or renewal of each set of specialty plates.
2. Request that TxDOT sponsor the specialty license plate. The organization receives no revenue from the sale or renewal of the specialty plates under this method.
Our executive director has appointed a committee to review the specialty license plate applications. There are a minimum of two reviews annually in the spring and fall. Plates tentatively approved by the committee will be subject to public comment. After the 10-day comment period, the executive director will make the final selections. You will be notified of our decision in writing.
We may exclude an application from consideration for the following reasons:
low projected sales or lack of statewide appeal,
controversial, or litigations in other states,
considered not to be cost beneficial to the state,
partisan or misrepresentation concerns,
design considered potentially offensive, controversial, or inappropriate to the public,
similar plate/design already exists,
proliferation of specialty plates, workloads and costs to the state,
advertising/corporation,
use of funds considered controversial or in violation of statute/constitution,
nominated state agency does not consent to receipt of the funds,
other reasons.

I find it funny how many of yall mock Texas and what it stands for, but then when it comes time for you to get a good job, find a place to live, go to school, etc.... you come here as soon as you can and get out of LA. Be careful of biting the hand that feeds you.

I can certainly appreciate the notion Texans are arrogant as I'm quite confident more than some are. However, living here for some 20 years allows for another perspective and what I tend to observe is a pride that other citizens of other States ought to be observing themselves.
No, I'll never be a native Texan. My pride is grounded in my heritage from Louisiana and though in self-imposed exile I have found native Texans to be very giving and hospitable and they know firsthand of my adoration of the Pelican State and everything LSU....

You never know unless we try. Why can't we motivate our massive alumni associations to get this done in Texas. One thing over here, especially in the bigger cities, is that transplants are numerous and welcome. If we band together, maybe we can get it done.
