Just said LSU must pay more because fans are nuts and expectations are higher.

says UM wont offer a ton of $$ because they are UM. If LSU wants LM then they need to offer the big bucks. He says that the quality of living in Mich. is better so UM doesnt and wont offer a 3+ million $ contract

Pretty much said that Michigan will not offer Les as much money as LSU will. LSU will offer about 3.5 mil and Michigan probably 2 mil or so. Then the decision is up to Les whether to take the money and stay at LSU or follow his dream job to Michigan for less money.

That and he implied that it sucks to live in the South, specifically Baton Rouge.

All his arguments are basically right, except that Michigan sees itself as "above" paying up. I think Michigan realizes that the "tradition" pitch only goes so far. See, e.g., Notre Dame. And it's kind of funny that his analogy to Michigan vs. LSU in this regard is Phoenix Tv jobs vs. Detroit TV jobs, where Detroit pays more because it's a less pleasant place to live. Detrois is only 40 miles east of Ann Arbor. And the weather in Ann Arbor today (just outside my office window) is in the mid-30s and headed south.

If we offer Les $3.5 million without ever winning a championship I'll be supremely pissed.

LSU won't offer 3.5. LSU has probably been in contact with other coaches and knows who is and isn't interested. That will determine what the offer is. If LSU offers Les 3.5 that tells us noone else wants the job. Would you rather Saban or Les for 3.5 mil.

This isn't about the money though. We could offer Les all the cash in the world and he would still go back to Mich.

So basically, it's a win/win situation for Les. He either ends of with his "dream job", or ends up as one of the three highest paid coaches in the nation.

If Les Miles is offered 3.5mil, the entire ad should be fired on the spot. I can see giving him a raise for the SEC title but if he can't even pull that off, I question the wisdom of paying him more $.

Kind of goes against what he is always preaching about players/coaches want to live in warmer climates.

Yeah right. The quality of life in Ann Arbor is soo much better people can't wait to get the hell out. In winter time most are in Florida that's for sure.

Miles is gone...end of discussion. It isn’t about money any more. Miles has been put in a position of choosing LSU or UM. He already did this. If he were staying why allow this to go on knowing his chance of a MNC was in jeopardy. Miles already made his choice!!!
