Can you elaborate? Both on your certainty about Benjen and these hints that Aemon has been dropping? Honestly curious.

I do feel as though if Aemon knew, he would have let Sam in on it before he died, seeing how he was raving about AA and the three heads.

Ned telling Benjen seems like bullshite if Ned wouldn't even tell Cat.

Not only have I always believed that someone has to know, but I believe someone has to have proof. Jon being a Targ has to come into play at some point if the R+L=J is true. And for it to come into play, someone has to reveal it since Jon doesn't know it.

This is how I've felt as well

How so? Because he talked to him about who his family really is to comfort Jon struggling with the things going on with the Starks at the time?

Blood. Benjen meets Jon before the feast at Winterfell, book and show in line at that point. Jon says, "I am ready". Benjen says, "You don't know what you will be giving up". As a bastard of Winterfell, not much. But as Rhaegar and Lyanna's child, the entire realm. I have to think Aemon knew as well. Jon was protected at the wall, he earned respect, but there was the most respected person there keeping a blind eye(yep went there)on him.

I definitely agree that Benjen knew. Early in Game of Thrones when hes talking to Jon and refers to Ned as "my brother" instead of "your father" which isn't natural if an uncle is talking to his nephew.

I'm not sure about Aemon. I think he might have realized towards the end when he was ranting and raving right before he died but if Aemon knew then he would have told Jon about his parentage after Ned died since Benjen wasn't likely to return and Ned couldn't tell him.

Well Benjen' deserves to know what truly happened to his sister and about his nephew.

Nah, not much... Just sex, starting a family, and not being surrounded by a bunch of criminals in the freezing cold for the rest of your life.

It is known there is a Star Wars-like secret in the main plot.

I think Jon was sent to the Wall to protect him. Ned, Benjen and Aemon were the only ones who knew. Aemon would protect him as the Targaryean heir and Benjen and Ned's honor were beyond reproach. Howland Reed would be the only one still alive to know. Ned's dead now, Benjen.. who knows? Aemon isn't long for the show. Howland is the key.

Benjen and Aemon could have known, I'll grant you that but Aemon is dead and Benjen is likely dead. So, unless Benjen miraculously reappears and denies or confirms Jon Snow's parents, we will never know.

But how could Aemon support Jon's right to the throne? He would only know second hand from Ned or third hand from Benjen.

Also when Jon takes his vows he forfeits his right to the throne anyways.

Well, who are the girls that Jon has kissed? Cuz one of them is his twin sister, then. Ha.

Aemon did not know. GRRM would not have missed a chance for Aemon to drop a clue when he was rambling on his deathbed. It serves no purpose now for Aemon to have known.

Ben does not know either. L made Ned swear to keep the secrete from everyone, there is no reason to tell something like that to a little brother.

I disagree. That scene in season one with the two of them discussing their family's and their tragedies. They have a connection that is undeniable. While Jon is feeding the ravens. I really have no doubt about it. The show jumped it when Aemon cast the final tie breaking vote. Give him some leadership, to know what it is to rule. At such a young age. IMO this is where D&D get it right with the grand scheme of things.

Besides, Benjen, Aemon is the one person to be trusted. He knew before Jon ever went to the Wall.

ETA: Aemon turned down the thrown for the good of the realm. Wasn't his fault that Aerys and Robert were such shitty Kings. Oh, what could have been.
