I wouldn't necessarily say trashy but it's very unprofessional and adults shouldn't have them imho.

Mine has been Shannon-"Let the Music Play" for last 4 years. The first Freestyle Song to be a big hit(1983). I'm a huge fan of the genre so frick whoever don't like it. My shite is on silent at work and Dr offices however. Also, sidenote. Trashy alerts for Texts bother me more than a ringtone. Anything other than the generic Beep bothers me.

From Wiki:
quote:

"Let the Music Play" was Shannon's only US Top 40 hit. It was ranked 43rd on the 2009 VH1 Special 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders of the 1980s.

For the past 3 years, whenever my phone hasn't been on vibrate (which is most of the time), my ringtone has been:

Lettuce - Ziggowatt

Not sure if trashy or not

I guess I need an OT judgement on my ringtones then. I have the following set for different people that call me:

Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks
Booker T and the MGs - Green Onions
Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling into Place
Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honor or Humanity
The Beatles - Come Together
Chris Joss - You've Been Spiked
Bach - Cello Suite No. 1 (Prelude)

I use ringtones but only ones that are simply instrumentals. My wife calls and it's "parks and rec" theme, a buddy of mine has the imperial march from Star Wars. Generic ringtone is game of thrones theme. I think actual songs are trashy but I like the instrumentals.

What says the OT on themes/instrumentals?

it has to be an absolutely "nailing it" ringtone for it to be acceptable.

i was at lunch with a sales rep a few weeks back and his phone started playing the wicked witch of the west theme song and he said that was when his ex-wife called. 10 minutes later Gold Digger by Kanye was for his girlfriend that he left his wife for.

What's trashier than that is every other thread on this board asking if something's trashy, or not. Who cares...move on.

I like video games text tones. I used to pick a game and make a bunch of similar themed tones (song for ringtone, blaster or coin or whatever sound for text tone, wallpaper for lockscreen).

Nowadays my phone is always silent because of my smartwatch so I don't waste time making tones.

I think it's funny when a standard ringtone goes off and 5-6 people reach for their phone cause they think it's theirs. Screw if it's trashy. I like having a ringtone that I know is mine ringing. I doubt many other people have the Walking Dead or Simple Man as their ringtones.

Now ringback music is stupid. I've heard more than one hiring manager say that having a rap or hard core metal ringback tone is not a good way to start a telephone interview.

Idk
But trashy people sure seem to love song ringtones...
Plus they have this need to let song play out before answering.
Often I want to smash fricking thing on the floor

100 percent trash. It doesn't get much worse. Especially if it is rap or country......
