I've always thought Las Vegas could be a good baseball city with the right ball park, and an owner willing to invest enough in players to be competitive. There are tons of retired people who live in Las Vegas who go to casinos because they are bored who could be enticed to spend their time at the ballpark as a cheaper alternative form of entertainment. Baseball is a form of entertainment that is family friendly in a city that doesn't provide a lot of entertainment that is geared toward children. It is a natural place for visiting fans desiring a road trip to watch their favorite teams.

I would absolutely love an mlb team in Nashville, but no way we can support three pro franchises... plus this town is full of people with established allegenses.... braves, cards, reds, cubs.

allegiances can be good

as you see when Preds play hawks and blues, they bring a good amount of fans to nashville.

a lot of cardinal fans in that surrounding area who would skip trips to st.louis, to pack it in to see them play in nashville.

but 3 teams is a lot for that area.

Agree. I think it would be extremely popular and sell lots of merchandise.

Yeh it's a lot but if they put the team in the right division I think they could get good crowds. Imagine if they took the Rays franchise, the games with the Yankees/sox/Orioles would have great crowds right off the bat.

Seems like santo domingo DR or san juan PR would be interesting options. Baseball is extremely popular in both countries ( much more so than the US). and there is a pretty big populus around both cities.

We did a good job last week of keeping the blackhawks fans out of bridgestone... but it ain't easy.

the rays moving here would be best case scenario... a well run franchise with tons of awesome home games every year.

Yep. The Yanks and Sox would get the fans out right away. Start winning some games and then you build your own fanbase from that. Very similar to what the Preds did

Old stadium in less than desirable area, let's see how numbers look with new stadium in much better locale.

FWIW Mayor Dean was on sports radio a few weeks ago and said that Nashville WILL be in the running for a franchise in 10 years.

Gives the idea credibility at least.

That would be pretty awesome and a VERY smart move for MLB from a TV revenue perspective.

that list isn't legit without Brooklyn, NY. they just got the Nets and they could use a National League team as a rival for the Mets. call them the "Brooklyn Blue" since Dodgers is taken.

they have 2 million+ in that borough IIRC

The author says that his model doesn't work for cities that already have a franchise, but he mentions that some cities w/ exisitng franchises might be good candidates. He actually mentions Brooklyn specifically.

No thanks. Ohio already has two professional sports' teams with good allegiances represented in Columbus. The AAA Columbus Clippers works just fine for me.

Only ones on that list that look reasonable are:

San Jose or Sacto - in the event of an A's move.

Austin or San Antonio - combined, a stadium in the right location could really feed off both of these cities.

Indianapolis - 3 major sports teams could be tough

Charlotte - not sure why, maybe bc it's a sizable location

Montreal would be the best choice. They just had over 90,000 for two exhibition games. Plus there is a history of baseball putting teams back that lost teams like New York, Washington, Seattle, and Milwaukee.

Nashville is dinged by it's female-heavy population

Part of what sold me on living there.

The Sounds have a new park, there'll be better attendance. Lots of transplants, but if it was presented right Nashvillers would buy in. Lots of corporate angles and a tourist destination.
