Why would you judge?

I'm trying to talk a friend out of selling all his toys for a late 90s Ferrari. He'll go broke.

OK...feel free to judge.

This board hates nice cars.

Threads about expensive cars are usually full of jelly "new money trash" replies.

Go to Jalopnik.com and search for Tavarish. He has some interesting articles about this very thing.

We must be about the same age. I had huge Countach and a Testarossa posters on my wall when I was a kid.

Still want a Countach just as a toy to drive every now and then. Can't afford it now. One of these days..........

Judge? For what would you be judging, most of the exotic market is indeed pre owned.

Now to buy one I will tell you this from experience, maintenance history, maintenance status, pre purchase inspection by a knowledgeable technician. Most are not driven much because owners fear depreciation. For me driving is the reason to own, if you are worrying about losing money you've purchased for wrong reason. So drive it like you stole it.
Do the maintenance on it and have fun, that's it.

If you stay in tune with the market, timing is everything on pricing. Exotics fall in and out of favor regularly, so be patient.

Have any of y'all ever bought a used exotic car? Sadly, a 20 year old Ferrari will be a dog performance-wise next to a new Infiniti. Well maybe not an Enzo.

Lot of truth to this, but the sound of an older exotic is in a realm of its own and the feeling of sitting in such a machine is not found in most new machines.

Yes, I know several people that have done this.

Sometimes they drive them, sometimes they are for investments.

Can't tell if that's sarcasm. Is that a decent one to have?

Most exotics are second hand cars.

My old man had an 86 Ferrari 328 GTS that he bought used in the early 90s. Rad Racer car. Drove the shite out of it and sold early 2000s. No idea if he made anything off of it but he had a good time.
