I really do think that they are improving on the storylines here.
Let's pump the brakes a little. They are doing a fine job considering they can't include everything, but I am coming around to the idea that they are just great in their own way.

Jaime going to Dorne (with Bronn!) is so much better than Jaime loathing around the Riverlands.
I agree it's cool, but we will miss out on his further development in the Riverlands. From his meeting with the Blackfish, to his "releasing" Edmund Tully, Jaime fully realized his true character in the Riverlands. Plus no Stoneheart which sucks.

Anyone else notice that the talk of grayscale is setting up for later in Tyrion's trip?
No not really. Tyrion wasn't infected with Grayscale, Connington was. The scene would be pointless unless Varys gets it or something.
quote:
I don't know why we have to have the entire budget for the show blown on a minute long scene with Drogon,
This is a change I like. Dany actually made a decision a Queen has to make. She didn't want to but stood there and chose to rule by law despite everyone's opinion. I felt Drogon showing up was a sign to her that she had done the right thing. It's obvious Viserion and Rhaegal are meant for other riders, but Drogon is hers. I think they are going to speed up Mereen, , and will have her leaving early next season.

Something I thought about last night on this point: do we know for a fact that Connington and Aegon aren't in the show? At this point, they can still be included when Tyrion gets on the ship headed to Mereen.

Not sure. But Varys was plotting to get Aegon on the throne. Now, they are saying Dany to be on the throne. I think that sealed Aegon's fate.
My thoughts on Sansa: LF will bring her to Winterfell. She will ingrain herself there. Ramsay and Roose will love it because it will give Ramsay right to Winterfell. That will be her way of ruining him. I think the poster that mentioned the Northern Conspiracy is right on. She is that vehicle now. I wouldn't expect Manderly to show now.
Brienne:
With Mance presumably dead, she will go to Winterfell with Sansa, trying to be undercover. She will help Sansa and will be (like another poster said) the vehicle to get Jon to try to head there. So, basically, she will play Mance's part from the books.
I have no idea what they are doing with Jamie, but with Bronn on board, it looks fun.
Feel free to tell me my theories are stupid. lol.

I'm afraid you're right on these points. It's upsetting to me because I loved both of these story lines in ADWD. The speech from Manderly was my favorite part of the book and the entire story loses some appeal if other "random" northern families aren't shown pissed off about the treatment of the Starks.

Possibly, but that would probably mean no hanging of Brienne and Podrick.

Just ruining his character like when they had him rape his sister.

A man enjoyed seeing another man wearing the face of Jaqen for a girl's introduction into the House of Black & White. A man felt it made more sense.
A man was intrigued at the Brienne/Sansa meeting. A man believes that Littlefinger wants to wed/bang Sansa while imagining a girl to be her mother. Because of this, Littlefinger will in no way marry a girl off to the Boltons (but may use a girl as a "honeypot"). Marrying a girl could well make a man the Warden of the North in the eyes of all the Stark loyalists and say "frick the Boltons" (thus setting off a war for Winterfell).
A girl seeing a dragon was this shizzy!
A man's comments about a potential Lord Commander cowering with the women and children were pure-fricking-gold. A man may have even cheered it when from a man's recliner.
That is all a man has to say on this episode. Vallar morghulis.

If, in fact, LF is planning to try to marry Sansa to Bolton, Brienne could play a role in rescuing her at some point, especially since Brienne will be following them indefinitely...

Why wouldn't they stick with Theon saving her?

I think we're going to get Jamie's transformation in Dorne. They've spent every episode since the hot tub scene with Brienne into making him look like a typical Lannister count, and I think that was deliberate. Instead of him transforming his character in the Riverlands, which got a bit tedious to read in the books, we'll get his transformation in Dorne, which, coupled with Bronn at his side, who will likely aid in his catharsis instead of oppose it, will be freaking awesome. The show isn't the books, it is its own unique vehicle, and I can accept that.

They may do so. But what makes you think she will need "saving"? I think she will be there to do work.

I am having mixed feelings about Sansa to Winterfell. On one hand I can see that betrothal as being a great plot device but I think it depends on how they handle the marriage to Ramsay. If everything is all done as prep up to the wedding with the goal being to rescue her, I can get behind that I guess. I just feel like if they allow Ramsay to get all over Sansa that it will be rehash of Joffrey. Plus how is no one going to recognize her at her ancestral home? I just hope they can fill in the holes.

How do you know they won't recognize her? It's her home in sure everyone will recognize her especially when they're calling her by her name.

So pumped to see Jaqen train Arya.

I really don't know how I feel about Sansa going to Winterfell. if she is going to be wed to ramsay I might lose it. He may be more sadistic than Joffery.
The other question why would LF want to marry Sansa to Ramsay if indeed that is where the show is going.

They don't have to play it out that way, but it looks like the choice they're taking. They did show lord of the bones at the burning/shooting scene. However, it does look like they're compressing a lot of the "hows" and "ways" to get to various ends.
It is just disappointing that they do things like add a scene with ole girl teaching Gilly how to read and more gay sex - things not in the dadgum story at all, taking valuable screen minutes away from a perfectly good story they're already not telling.
Maybe that's just me.

quote:I always detected a hint that Gurm doesn't think women are very good at ruling. Cersei and Lysa are the obvious examples, but Dany is not much better. She tries to micromanage everything and make everyone happy, which is impossible. A good example is the dragons. She wants them to be large and powerful, which means they need to roam free, but she doesn't want them to roam free because they might kill people. Well, can't have it both ways.
Everything Dany does in the books and in the show is wrong. Besides being resistant to heat and having a certain level of control over dragons, what the frick good is she. Everything she has done since getting the Unsullied has been a mistake.
The sand bitches are emotionally driven, impulsive and their grandest scheme to date ended up in total disaster. They want everything right now and make a mess of things when they rush to action.
HBO is a lot of chicks and homos, so I'm sure this will be presented much differently in the show and they'll all be geniuses.

She is not supposed to be the same girl she was when she was with Joffrey. Think Margary with Joff, but looking for payback as motivation instead of being queen.
