re: What would signing Malik Newman mean for Keith Hornsby's role?

We'd probably play a 3 guard line up, with Quarterman playing the 6th man role, but still getting as many minutes as the starters.
Simmons would play the 4 and Robertson, Victor, and Malone would split time at the 5. Epps would likely backup at the 4 along with Bridgewater.

I see:
Pg Malik
Sg. Hornsby
3. TQ
4. Simmons
5/c. Robinson

Newman looked good at the Nike Hoops Summit the other day.
He's as advertised.

Malik Newman will play the point guard position in college and in the pros so it will probably not affect Hornsby as much as it would affect Gray, Patterson, and Quarterman.

Well, if he comes here I hope so. If not I hope not.
He did nothing to impress in the McDonald's. Granted it's a snapshot and not fair to judge a kid solely on, but it's all I have to go on and it was unimpressive.

I'll tell you they wouldn't know who to guard on a last second shot with Blakeney, Newman, Simmons and Hornsby on the court at once.
Well, out of those people you named I would gladly let Simmons shoot it. His jump shot isn't nearly as good as those other three guys.

Kids in general these days are greatly lacking fundamentals. You can clearly see this in these all star games and on the AAU circuit.

Yeah, but you know that going in. I was observing in that context and even in that context he struggled. Simmons did not.

Victor > Robinson
Robinson averaged basically 0 minutes a game on a team with zero front court depth.
Victor was at the end of the bench too but he did play 6 minutes a game on a top 5 team with a loaded front court.
All signs point to Victor starting.

It mean's that JJ actually has to rotate players.

Agree at this point. However, unless Victor wins his hardship case the Tigers will play the first third of the season without him. Hopefully the Tigers' quartet of current post players make use of the PT to improve their games enough to become adequate role players rather than liabilities.

And those kids should get off your lawn!!

I think LSU will play three guards most of the time. All of their minutes will be down some which isn't a bad thing. It also will allow LSU to press more which LSU didn't do much of last year because of all these 30 plus minute guys.
