OT Runners: Do you stretch before, after or not at all?

I have never stretched before or after either weight lifting workouts or running and it seems recent studies say it is not beneficial and can possibly be detrimental. When I see people doing stretches it seems like most of them have no idea what types of stretches they are doing and are just doing it because they think they are supposed to.

Never before or after running. I'll stretch in between sets, though.

You've never stretched?
A lot of the sports I played the coach made us stretch.

There's only 1 stretch I have to do.
I extend the knee and then point toes so as to stretch the lateral tibial muscles (don't remember their names)- I'm more prone to mild shin splints if I don't do this.

I might do a real quick stretch before just to "get loose", most of the time when I exercise it's first thing in the morning so if I don't I'll be tight as hell.
I usually always give a more prolonged stretch after, not for any perceived health benefits, just because if I don't I'm typically a little sore the next day.

wel maybe i should reword that, a couple days of the week during high school practice coach would have us do some basic stretches for 5-10 mins, never before games though.

I stretch the hips. Occasionally (and unfortunately right now), I'll get a flaring pain in the outer knee from my IT band. I used to never stretch. The older I get, the more I stretch.

While I agree that most people probably don't realize why or what they are stretching, when doing intense cardio or plyometric training, say... it is important to elongate the muscle by stretching to prevent injury (after a warmup) and then after the workout to reduce soreness.

Warmup, then fast twitch stretch, run, warm down, full stretch

Most important stretch I do before any type of activity is the calf stretch. Otherwise I get achilles tendonitis. I also like to stretch my hamstrings.

Dynamic before and static after

I stretch before and after.
If you are really into fitness then the results of stretching cannot be ignored, especially after a workout when you body is probably its most responsive.
Also, before lifting heavy weights, i'll warm up by doing a set at a much lighter weight to prepare my muscles.
