It's ok...I usually get the tenders at the gas station near our camp, and they have a good spice to them. Only problem is that sometimes the chicken tastes rubbery, like it's been brined too long or something.

Do they serve breakfast? That would be pretty clutch for hungover Monday mornings.

They're pretty good. I was surprised. Not Popeyes but you'll enjoy it.

Depends what gas station. Some really good. One in Westwego is good. Depends on who's tending to that bird.

True, but really applies to any recipe. Drive to the Chevron on the east side of Bastrop. Best yardbird in Bastrop, bar none, Popeye's included. When KK is done right, it is very good.

The dry batter is pre-packaged and delivered so it's consistent and I believe they all use the commercial pressure fryers. Not bad for gas station.

More importantly, is the price per gallon of gas in line, or does serving this sought out delicacy allow them to raise the price of gas 2-3 cents per gallon?

Not bad for gas station chicken, especially if it hasn't been under the heat lamp for too long. However, I wouldn't choose it over Delpit's, Cane's (for tenders), chik-fil-a, Popeye's, or Leader's.

It is Extended Shelf Life (ESL) chicken, the same crap that Albertson's uses, which is why it is rubbery and overly salty.

Christ, it's hard enough to get my ESL students to listen to directions. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to get a chicken that doesn't speak English to listen.

You joke, but the 2 gas station owners I know that serve it, do consistently keep their prices just slightly higher than their competitors and I think it is because of their food offerings really are drawing people in.

The better question is other than being undercooked, have you had bad fried chicken?? KK when done right is just fine for gas station chicken. I prefer the Shack but I had some bird from Stockyard yesterday that was fantastic. I don't think I've had bad fried chicken ever. Maybe I'm genetically predisposed to like it.
