tSouls (The London Souls)

Also if they haven't been mentioned yet, Phish at least deserves an honorable mention behind the souls

U2 comes to mind even though I don't care for anything they've done since the 80's.

Foo Fighters has been the most consistently good throughout that time period.

Nirvana was the most influential, but they didn't last all that long.

Pearl Jam is a solid nominee as they burned hot and fast in the 90s, but have been able to innovate and reinvent themselves in the 2010s.

Foo Fighters. If Weiland could get off the smack STP would be very close 2nd.

Personal favorites would be Our Lady Peace and Anberlin

I generally look at this category in the sense of what people will actually pull out and listen to 30 years from now. In that regard, I think it'll be big acts that were also pretty critically respected, stuff like:

DMB
REM
Counting Crows

Aside from Counting Crows, God I hope you're wrong.

I could be. I'm not a huge REM fan but they were big enough with a strong enough catalogue that I think they'll have staying power. I know people hate on DMB, but they sold out stadiums for years playing a pretty unique brand of music.

We'll see, I think it's interesting to think about what the next generation will appreciate (even if they don't actually listen to it).

So did the Bee Gees. I can only hope jam bands follow the same fate

Pavement or the Beastie Boys. I go back and forth on it.

REM's best work was released before 1990.

NIN is a solid choice. Popular, lots of critical acclaim, influential, good live and on record.

Radiohead?

White Stripes/Jack White - Maybe more qualified for the last 15 years.

oh - and Widespread Panic just to get under the gills of the Phish people.

I could go along with The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They are probably too heady for this board though.
