Phish.

Literally nothing can touch their 90s catalog.

Dave Matthews Band should probably get a mention but I'm personally not too big of a fan. The band themselves are pretty good though. White Stripes and Modest Mouse deserve to be in the discussion as well.

although their best material was released in the early-mid 80's, iron maiden should be in the discussion. they're still making good records and filling venues all over the world.

Best live band over that era has been Dream Theater.

BEST is hard to say. But I'd say any of these have a solid body of work:

Radiohead
Sonic Youth
Pixies
Sleater-Kinney
Dinosaur Jr.
My Bloody Valentine
Slowdive
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Animal Collective
The Breeders
Crystal Castles
Deerhoof
Deftones
The Flaming Lips
Fugazi
ISIS
Nirvana
Pavement
REM

Well, they are kind of like Blind Melon. Could have gone on to be one of the greatest but you know...

It makes me so sad when I think of what could have been with BM. Hoon had such an amazing voice and was a great lyracist. Soup is one of my all-time favorite albums.

Best of past 25 years?

I agree with NIN, but I haven't been in love with their stuff since after With Teeth.

Modest Mouse is a strong contender.

For me it's Opeth with Dream Theater in honorable mention.

NIN was an interesting, but great, answer.

Agreed on FF and Counting Crows.

Matchbox 20 had major hits in both decades and still draw big tour numbers.

No Doubt anyone? Besides Tragic Kingdom they're not my style .... but they've stayed relevant.

If I had to choose one thats spanned most of those 25 years... I'd say Wilco.

I think other bands may have had better 5 or 10 year stretches during that span, but for atleast the last 20.. Wilco for me..

Wilco from A.M. to their more recent stuff is vastly different and dynamic... The addition of Kotche and Cline have added so much to their sound..

I'd say Radiohead is obviously in the conversation, though they aren't really for me since the 90s..

At some point it's just personal preference..
