I'm 6 episodes into the first season. This show is good...solid. It's nowhere near as good as the juggernaut House of Cards, but the show has some layers and interesting plot lines.

Coach Eric Taylor and the hot chick from Grandma's Boy (Linda Cardellini--she looks older, but still good-looking) are in it with Sissy Spacek. Ben Mendelsohn is amazing as the loser, frick-up shitbag brother amongst an otherwise squeaky clean family clan--but only on the surface.

So far, it's still hard not to hate Kyle Chandler in anything he does even though he is Coach Taylor in all of his work. Mendelsohn is a superb and even likeable trashbag and the rest of the cast seems to be well-rounded and good in supporting roles.

I'm 6 episodes in and love it. One of the biggest gripes I've seen people say about it is the slow pace, but honestly it seems to be about the same as HOC to me.

Also does the frickup brother remind anyone else of robert durst?

I will say around E3 is where I was hooked. Because I looked over at my girlfriend and said "Okay, I'm hooked" and she was wide eyed and said "Me too!"

You don't see the final minute or so of the first episode coming.

Yeah the first episode is a little slow going, but most shows take a bit to get rolling. I feel like each episode kind of builds a little more to the story/backstory that keeps you intrigued. Constantly finding out new stuff.

I've never seen FNL, but he'll always be Jeff Metcalf from Homefront to me. I used to love that show.

Do yourself a favor and catch up on FNL. You won't even remember who Jeff Metcalf was.

I'm really digging it. Finished episode 4 last night. It's a soap opera, but it's very well acted, the Florida Keys look great, the music is excellent and the writing is good.

My wife HATED the first episode. Like 30 minutes in, she just started actively making fun of it. Which is odd, because she loved Kyle Chandler on Friday Night Lights. I think the problem is, she has a Danny on her side of the family -- that's my Psych 1001 take.

Nah, maybe later in life.

I'm not sure I could give less fricks about HS football, but more than that there are way too many other shows that I'd want to see first.

Dude. I never thought anyone else besides me and my wife knew of that show, let alone that character.

Episode 1 : Really Good. And then the final scene hooks you.
Episode 2-10 : Really good drama, lots of back-story that sets you up for...
Episode 11-13 : Amazing.

The last 3 episodes had more tension than any TV I've seen except for maybe the last two of Breaking Bad. And Danny was the perfect antagonist, clever, evil, manipulating, condescending , and a sympathetic character at the same time

Not only do they do this with Danny, but every child in that family. They make sure to show each in a sympathetic light, but also a bad light. They obviously do it the most with Danny, and rightfully so.

I'm 6-7 episodes in, and I have been pretty hooked on it thus far. It does have some traits of a soap opera on steroids with all the family drama and infidelity and that sort of thing, but it's a good show IMO. Look forward to being able to finish it.

Just finished it. Intense. Great storytelling with the brief flashbacks, and then slowing revealing the details of the past that show that there are no good guys here. And great job ratcheting up the tension over the course of the season. There's no way future seasons can be as good, so maybe they should have wrapped the story up in one season.

Oh, and that Potts guy is a real shite-stirrer.

Kinda feel the same. I mean I'm not done with the first season yet, but it feels like it's a very limited world and this storyline, though great, can be wrapped up perfectly in 1-2 seasons.

I agree, the series got better and better. The past came to light as the present unraveled. I was skeptical when I started but it was really good. Everything that happens is justified given the background and seriousness of the situation. The acting was above average but for me it was definitely the writing and the strong themes of family and loyalty that made the show so good.
