i assume they shouldn't have a hole under their fence for balls to go through.
We played at the box tonight.

If you look within the ncca baseball rule book on waht constitutes legal field of play and when a ball becomes dead...you would then know that playing by textbook , the ball was dead....:)
By the NCAA rulebook, all imaginary deadball lines are considered live until crossed so your whole imaginary line argument is stupid
Not that has anything to do with this

Theres a reason they go over ground rules before each game.

Should have been a ground rule double and this is why....the fence is an imaginary line going straight up...the ball went under the fence penetrating that imagimary line.....ground rule double....its not about if the fielder couldnt grab the ball or not...its about if the ball was in the field of play or not....
No

This ump might be used to high school rules. Where chain link fences are the true boundaries, and if the ball gets stuck or goes under, it's dead.

Just stating the rules...
No
No you are not
You are stating the general rules which fit your narrative. If you look at the rules in their entirety, including the ground rules, you would see that you are 100% incorrect.

ball under the padding is listed as ground rule number one.

Really? So all those pop flys in foul territory which are caught by guys leaning into the dugouts over the railings are incorrect because, as you clearly state, the imaginary line has been crossed?

I like how you stick to your guns for six pages, even though you are proven wrong throughout the entire thread

not sure if anyone listened to the post game, but CPM said if they didn't overturn the call he was going to get the ground rules and bring it out in front of 12,000 people. If they still didn't do it he would protest the game. Thankfully they overturned it.

i heard the radio show on my way home. He said that ground rule was the very first one, and they had discussed it before the game. also ground rules were mailed in visitors package to UK earlier in the week, posted in the umps locker room and visitor dugout. there
should have been no question of that rule.
should have been no question of that rule.

Fack it, let me jump on. Idiot!

That "imaginary" line you speak of is the chain link fence behind the padding. Had the player attempted to remove the ball they may have been held to a double but you can't say it's stuck if you haven't tried to remove it. They made the correct call.

No because the ball didn't touch the dugout..it was caught first...
