I've went 6 days.

Wasn't meth or cocaine, was physically addicted to benzos that were prescribed to me, and after a while I just quit cold turkey. I paid for that.

I used to startle myself awake every time I started dozing off, because somehow I was convinced that I'd stopped breathing. I'd wake up over and over and over again, and then I started having serious anxiety about going to sleep. I'd essentially ignite a little panic attack after startling myself awake. Had a lot of looooong nights during that time of my life.

Ultimately I got to the point that I just decided I didn't give a frick if I slept or not, & got some books to read. It helped to have my gf at the time watch me startle myself awake and tell me that I never stopped breathing, so it was just a mental thing.

Anxiety is some fricked up stuff. Cutting back on caffeine consumption helped me a lot.

when i was young, maybe 9 or 10 i would randomly get terrible anxiety about dying in my sleep once i fell asleep, so i would fight it as long as i could. i was 9 or 10 like i said, so it would be maybe two hours til i would fall asleep. it wasnt an every night type of thing, just occasionally, and maybe happened a total of 5 times. it was weird

A couple days during processing. That part was the worst IMO. Not just the sleep deprivation but the whole thing.

I do not fear sleep, but hate it. I hate that I have to shut down, but not the actual feeling I get of being well rested. It is more that I fear I will miss out on something by sleeping. I must admit that I have no trouble sleeping.

You are not the only one, this happened to me every Christmas season for like 5 years. I would put my phone on record on my chest and record myself falling asleep to prove to myself I wasn't dying.

Hasn't happened in a long time, probably 4-5 years, but it was miserable.

Eventually I did exactly what you did, just wouldn't fight it, read or do something else until I just got so exhausted I couldn't help but stay asleep.

You should look into getting prescribed xanax or some sort of anti-depressent. Not saying you are depressed, but it might take the edge off and allow you kinda block that out of your head over time.

I can't sleep, but getting on Xanax can be hell to get off that drug. It can kill you to quit cold turkey and withdrawals are like the devil is inside you. I've never had that problem, but I have a friend that went through that.

That sounds like it sucks. Sleeping is one of the great pleasures after a hard day of work.

they prescribe xanax for a reason. im not saying he should take 4mg a night for the rest of his life for him to sleep.
but people dealing with anxiety sometimes need xanax or antidepressents to calm there anxiety to the point where they start to realize that they can overcome it. And then you ween yourself off of it just like any other pharmaceutical thats addicting.
