Who you work for? Schlumberger?

The nicest apartments will be on Corporate in Houma off of MLK.

But if you're young and single you may want to stay closer to Nicholls in Thibodaux.

If you are single and like to go out often then live in thib. If you just want to occassionally get a beer and be closer to different food options then live in Houma.

Thibodaux....HANDS DOWN!

Houma is trash. Sure they have more to do but id drive the 15 minutes it takes to get there any day to not be in Houma

My fiance is from Thibodaux and every time we have to go to Houma I tell her "I'm glad you're not from Houma, I probably wouldn't be marrying you."

Downtown Thibodaux is always fun when we go, so that would be my vote. There may be more things in Houma shopping and restaurant wise, but I would rather live in Thibodaux.

Does not compute...

You would drive 15 minutes regularly to a place you think is too trashy to reside in.

Guarantee you all his coworkers are going to want to do two things go fishing which is closer to Houma and go to NOLA which is closer to Houma. I currently live in Thibodaux now and I find myself in Houma often. Wait til around September when all those cane trucks are in Thibodaux and how fast you will get to Houma.

There's nice areas in Houma just as there are in Thibodaux. And there's crappy areas in Thibodaux just like there are in Houma. But as a single guy in his 20's it's going to suck no matter which town you live in.

I know people in the oilfield who had jobs there that moved to Thibodaux after college to work in Houma, then moved to Houma because it wasn't worth the extra 20 minutes in the morning. But I've also know several people who were from out of state and lived in NOLA and commuted because they couldn't stand living in the area. Hell, I knew a guy who commuted from Baton Rouge!

I was engaged/married, had family in the area, and loved to fish. So, it really wasn't bad at all. If I was a single guy still looking to bar hop, I'd have probably killed myself.

Apprecaite it, with SLB, they were the only ones on my list of offers who didnt pull theirs, just pushed the start date back a couple times. I have a couple irons in the fire with Shell and Anadarko but everything is on hold pretty much with the market the way it is. Big red got with me a couple weeks back about some different positions than the original offers they made me but havent heard anymore.

Let me make a decision matrix for you:

Are you trashy?
Yes, very much -> east side of Houma
Somewhat -> Houma
No -> Thibodaux
high class -> Chackbay

Between work and going to NewO and places to see friends I dont plan on being there much. When I am there I do plan on fishing.

What are the "bad areas" to avoid? Have been leaning towards Thib bc Houma has always struck me as a place I am happy to not be from .

Let me break it down for you brother

Lived in Thibodaux for the first 30 yrs of my life meaning I spent a lot of time in Houma... The question posed was " Should I live in Houma or Thibodaux" not which one has a f-ing Twin Peaks ( Trash) or a Southland "Hall" ( Trash )
I don't fish south of Houma, I fish down the Bayou, and I live in NOLA now so.....you my friend....obviously can't compute

I am allergic to trash and it must be noticeable bc they are always begging me to beat their arse. Going to have to spend a couple days driving around I guess to check both out.

this is easy and plenty of people are explaining this well.

Live in Thibodaux, cleaner, nicer, not a lot of craziness like Houma...

Got to Houma if you need things like a quick trip to mall, academy, sams, target, ect...15 min away from Thibodaux easy.

Thibodaux is a nice spot to live in. 60 min from BR, 60 min from Nola, 15-20 min from Houma. Can't go wrong there.

The single factor cashes in if you are in your 20s definitely live in Thibodaux.

You're Welcome, thread over

Name me one benefit of living in Thibodaux as opposed to Houma.

Down the bayou? You mean like places closer to Houma? Or Pierre Part which is the only place I can think of that is closer to Thibodaux which would be up the bayou?

You speak of Thibodaux as if it is the mecca of class. Thibodaux is Houma with out all the great features that make Houma >>>> Thibodaux.
