Don't know about that, but pictures of draft beer in a glass is pretty funny.

I'm into the craft doughnut thing. I think District Donuts is the best in the state as far as craft. Although I did have Mr. Ronnie's in Houma once at 10 PM. That shite hit the spot.

I'm a big supporter of Tiger Deaux-nuts. Great local place and owner. Pricing is pretty standard for craft specialty donuts. I agree, I would like the special ones to possibly have a filling. But I don't believe I've ever had a specialty donut served to me hot. This includes all the ones I've had from out of states; which if you look at my instagram, I've sampled a good bit. Now his regular lineup could be kept warm instead of sitting out on the bakers rack.
For being in a new location and still working things out, I think Tiger Deaux-nuts has alot of potential. I'll keep eating his stuff.

I have had some of his donuts hot and frankly they aren't the same. The icing/toppings start to melt and they are not crafted to melt. The only donut you see warm at other places is the glazed. I have never gotten a hot chocolate dipped or filled one anywhere.

For St. Patty's day he was filling his special for the day. I think he will start moving that way. At the moment it is just Jeff and an assistant doing all the work. As he gets a handle on the daily grind I see him expanding his lineup a good bit.

I definitely want to give District Donuts and Blue Dot Donuts a try the next time I'm down in New Orleans. And I'm wondering if the original Mr. Ronnie's would be a safer bet than the one in town.

I guess I will admit my ignorance. I wasn't aware that it is customary for craft donuts to not be warm. I guess that makes sense when you consider all of the toppings and sauces which would presumably melt if kept too warm.

This there is no denying.

Maybe I need to give them another try. I will admit that I still want to try the Peanutbutter Cup, Banana's Foster, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch doughnuts.

I hope so. There is definitely some potential there.

I recall having warm chocolate glazed and eclairs before, but maybe it was just the luck of the draw.

I feel like your price observation is a little off, there are plenty of other options for cheaper. Also, I don't think the logistics for a donut with topping allow for them to be hot.

I will concede that my dissatisfaction in regards to the temperature of the craft doughnuts may have been a bit ridiculous. With that being said, even the Tiger Donut, which doesn't have any over-the-top ad-ons, wasn't that warm.

I realize that they have cheaper options, but I wanted to try the best of what they offered. Regardless, nine dollars just seems steep for a half-dozen, even if they're a step above your run-of-the-mill glazed doughnuts.

No kidding. He had one of each doughnut available at the counter and the baker's rack was only a few feet behind the counter. I could easily see what was available.

I hear original is best of all. I've only had original though.

I'm serious about my donuts too, and I agree that Tiger Deaux Nuts isn't very good. The owner is super-nice and I want to support the guy, but there's no excuse for cold donuts at 9am. I'm not sure if he has assembled a staff at the new location, but when he was on Jones Creek he worked by himself, and despite the creativity of his creations, the quality suffered because he was doing it alone. Some of the topping choices didn't work, either -- wet toppings led to soggy donuts. Hopefully he's improved since the move, but from the op's review, it doesn't sound like it.

I was never a KK fan until I went to the one on a Plank and got a dozen straight off the conveyor belt. Those things literally melt in your mouth. There's a HUGE difference between the pre-boxed ones and ones straight off the line.

My vote for worst in the area are the donuts at Mr. Ronnies. Those things are like bricks.

The new Pelican Donuts on the corner of Antioch and Tiger Bend are good, but their selection is small.

It's a freakikg doughnut. IMO none of the fancy craft donuts of the new world are better than a hot glazed doughnut from Krispy Kreme.

This. The standard glazed Krispy Kreme is a top 3 doughnut for me. The only "craft" doughnut that has ever come close was the Voodoo doll doughnut from Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR. It was delicious and hilarious. The best I've ever had was one of the places in New Orleans that does a Bavarian creme filled doughnut topped with powdered sugar.
