Your trolling is strong tonight. You should change your quote to "Only rape victims like Birdman."

Not as good as this on a loop, though . . .

ETA: And do see Imitation Game.

I guess you can put me on the "touched by drizz's uncle" list too. Birdman > Whiplash

Im not a big music guy. I can't play anything, can't read music, am basically tone deaf. Nothing about the plot of whiplash sounded interesting to me at all.

And it is the best movie I remember seeing in the past like 5 years. That shite was amazing.

Watched whiplash and the imitation game today. Will watch bird man soon. I'm not a music guy so I liked the imitation game more.

Teller should have at least got a Best Actor nom. He probably shouldn't have won it, but to not even get a nomination is a damn disgrace

Seriously, I'm cool if people like Whiplash more than Birdman, but I don't. I loved Birdman. The acting and dialogue was superb. The cinematography was awesome. They're both great movies, though.

I thought Birdman was incredibly well made, however I also think it to be one of the most untrustworthy films ever made. I can't decide if it was a sham or a ruse, a cry or help, or an honest self evaluation.

Whiplash, to me, has more on point with what it was saying. It's a 1a/1b ranking with Calvary which was fantastic.

I'm not really qualified to say since I've only seen these two from the nominees but Whiplash is one of those rare movies that I wanted to watch again right after it was done

I only felt this way about two movies all year: Whiplash and even more so The Dance of Reality. Though I think Keatons performance was akin to Gloria Swanson's legendary role as Norma Desmond and the cinematography had a lot of flash, I definitely liked Whiplash more than Birdman. I found it's tone and pacing much more accessible.

Can we all agree that American Sniper was the least deserving film for best picture?

Agree. I have seen both and I loved Whiplash while I struggled to get into Birdman.

Saw Whiplash last night. Loved it. Haven't seen Birdman, but I liked both Boyhood and Imitation Game better than Whiplash. Just a lot of great cinema this last year.

shite I need to see that. Keep forgetting about it. Love Brendan Gleeson. Is it the same feel as The Guard or is it grittier and more dramatic?

It leans more dramatic, but there's a very similar feel there. If that makes sense. It's like The Guard but one step more serious. Not much, but just enough to make it different.

I haven't seen Theory, Imitation or Selma.

I have seen Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, Grand Budapest and Whiplash.

Of those 5, American Sniper is my least favorite by a wide margin and I was really looking forward to watching it.
