just finished my outdoor patio kitchen and i love it so far. just finished today and i had a crew working on it for the past week.
they put a 1.25 inch smooth stone counter top as you can see in the picture, however it has some imperfections and stains on it. i love the look and feel of it, just the color and stains throw me off.
can i go buy any color stain and paint this? if so what do you recommend? im excited to see it in a different color.
Any help is appreciated.

The markings are from lazy workers. Not sure how to fix it. I'd call the workers back out. One of those stains is a perfect circle from something toxic that was laid on it. But you could always concrete stain easily:

Even if the stains weren't there id like a different color, that's why I'm not sweating it
Any type of stain that you recommend?

Scoffield is the best. Their are tons of options though. Go visit a concrete store like WhiteCap, Ramtool, or CMC in the Dallas market. One of them should be able to hook you up and get you the right product. Stay away from the stuff at the big boxes. Get a food grader sealer as well. Acid stain is topical so sealing is important. And the stains will not go away even after staining the tops.

I would say a darker color to match that brick. Looks fantastic, many good meals to come, nice!

Stain it or rub it with a cement and mortar mixture if you want to keep the Grey is color

I agree that the stains were caused by the installers. Personally I would be concerned about using any type of stain without first removing the existing stains, and the circle. Regardless of how dark the stain you use the imperfections may show through.

I would try household bleach first and if this does not work, you may want to try muriatic acid. Make sure that you have good ventilation, and if you have a scrap piece of stone, I would try it on the scrap first. The acid will actually etch the stone, therefore; do not leave it on the surface any longer than it takes to remove the stain. Both products can be diluted with water, but do not mix them.
