Coming down with 2 other couples before a cruise and would like some recommendations for lunch. It's been 10 hrs since I've been there and other couples have never been so they want a good traditional NO meal.

Have been told Lil Dizzys Cafe or Coops (think that's the name).
Whatcha got? Thanks

Are you staying in NOLA or just looking for a stop in before you launch? Cruise line makes a difference on location.

What day of the week? How dressy or casual? Price range?

La Casita and Cochon Butcher are good casual lunch spots.

I would assume the same, but doesn't NCL sail out of the upper 9th? Makes a little difference on recommendation.

No ships are sailing out of the upper 9, yet. Has to be the terminal in the FQ.

Ah, gotcha. Thought I saw one docked there the other day. Granted I was a few miles away.

Its docked in the 9, but they are awaiting a berth to open in the FQ. But, there's little doubt that a cruise ship will soon find a permanent home somewhere around Poland Ave.

There is a terminal in the FQ ?

I heard a story the other day about a ship having a mechanical problem. They couldn't stayed dock at the terminal b/c another ship was coming in. They were forced to load the ship and then move it down river to fix the problem. That might be what you saw FT.

Maybe it was the reason. Have always seen the signs pointing to the cruise terminal down Poland and thought there was one docked way down river before Katrina, probably mothballed.

Also, isn't there some naval ship off Poland at the old goverment building.

This has nothing to do with this poor guy finding a place to eat, sorry for the hijack.

When? Day of the week? Any cost considerations? Does dress matter? Does location matter?

"A good traditional NO meal" means old school New Orleans to me. If coming on a weekday, I'd suggest Bon Ton Cafe for someone who has never been to New Orleans and want something "native" to New Orleans/Louisiana. You can find both New Orleans/Cajun based dishes there. Good crawfish bisque and etouffee and now's the time to have some crawfish dishes if they want to taste that.

A few more details from you would help folks make more recommendations. It's sort of wide open.

Be a Thursday, something casual.

Does location matter?

Look at the menu at Bon Ton to determine if that type of menu is what would interest your first time friends. It's a nice representation of Louisiana fare if that's what you're looking for. You can go casual. On a Thursday, you'll see a mix of local business people and casual folks, as well.
