is really getting old. Gorilla ball was fun as shite to watch but it got absurd. Don't think it should go back to that, but at least early 2000s were better.

The more college baseball i watch the more I see balls just pelted and going nowhere. I'll be really surprised if they don't make the balls harder next year

what exactly was it that they did to the balls this year? how do they compare to the ones you use?

Do you really not think that MLB has had no impact on these bats and their increased ability to scout college players?

Tired of these JUCO washouts coming and talking like they ever played real sports

Sheesh

It's killing the sport. College baseball is literally dying.

they flattened the seams which makes the balls move less

they're similar to minor league balls now but I thought they said not as hard. Big league balls have flatter seams

hell maybe they did. makes some sense

I mean Kris Bryant hit 30 in SD with these so that gave everyone an idea of how stupid strong he was

They went with a lower seamed ball to reduce air resistance allowing the ball to carry further.

ah, ok. for whatever reason, i was under the impression/made up in my mind that they did something to make the balls fly farther somehow.

but yes, they have to do something about the bats. the CWS this year will be just as boring as the past few and will continue to be until they do something about it.

The claims that the bats were changed for safety is bull crap. It was a excuse. Like a above poster is insinuating, the bats were change because back room pressure from MLB.

It's not so bad this year. I would like the old bats back but I can live with this.

CWS is an abortion now. That stupid stadium and the bats make it unwatchable

I'm not saying you're wrong in any way, but Mainieri said in preseason that they had a machine out measuring ball speed as it left the bat and that balls hit with the same velocity as the previous year were flying about 20 feet further this year. He mentioned the lower seams producing less drag which makes sense. I don't think causing pitches to move less was the intended purpose of the new ball as much as hoping they'd fly a little further.

it's both then. Lower seams is less ball movement for sure. Didn't know that about carry but that's interesting.
