Better make an early shot.

That's the key. If you start off 0 for 15, I don't like your chances on the last 5, especially considering the ball is probably covered in your own puke by that point.

As for actually doing it, it doesn't take a huge feat of strength to get the ball there so assuming your eyesight is decent or correctably so (so your aim isn't distorted), I'd have to imagine you would at least get lucky in 20 attempts.

Let's say that you have your choice of prison: Angola, Rikers, Pelican Bay...and in general population.

Not only would I do it, I would do it with my back to the goal for double either way: 40 mil or 4 years.

And I would make it within 10 shots.

Ya i never do any brag on the athletic feats but this one is easy. Anytime u go to a gym last thinf our group does it everyone hits a half court shot. If it takes you more than a few turns you start getting fricked with becsuse its pretty easy to do.

I would take that deal every day

Here is a little spin on the OP -

Half-court shots, but you're competing against a random person drawn from the crowd. You shoot one shot each round, alternating who shoots first. First one to make it in a round where there opponent misses wins $20M. Lower goes to jail for 2 years. What do you do?

Every time you miss in the start of a round would take years off of your life, but one of you is winning $20M and the other is going to jail for a while.

20 attempts? Sure.

But still, prison? My arse has outgoing traffic only

i worked at a sports camp for a few summers and lunch was inside a gym. almost every day the counselors played halfcourt knockout (gotcha or whatever you grew up calling it) in front of the kids and it got to the point where missing a couple in a row pretty much meant you were out. this was a group of decent high school level athletes, but nothing crazy.

i know that's just another anecdotal worthless story, but i really dont feel that this is all that tough in theory. i still think i would be scared shitless though if im cold for the first 10 shots.

I would do it.

I am risk loving, good at half court shots (but not basketball overall), and lucky. I could probably punt the ball in blindfolded based on random shite I have made before.

If you have to stand and make the half court shot then there's no way I would try it. But if I got a running start then I think I could make one.

I admire your sense of adventure, but how many NBA players have off nights and go 0 for 8,9 or 10 from behind the arc? Guys who normally shoot 30-40%

Maybe you'd be lucky maybe not. I'm betting the average dude panics after about 0-12 and has zero shot of making it after that.

Thats with players running at them. During warm ups they never go 0-10

Understood, but my point was more along the lines of even if historically you "might" get lucky and hit one, odds are better that you'll be unlucky and miss every one.

Especially after you've missed the first 10 or so and start to freak out.

If you don't make it in 10 shots I'd bet your arm would start to give out beyond that

Yes. I could make about 4 out of 20.

I'm better under pressure and I have no idea why. I seem to focus more.

With that said I think I'd likely be able to make one with 20 attempts, but I'm not sure I'd want to risk going to prison. Tough call.

In prison the shoot would be in your mouth.
