They got beat by college kids while tuning up for the 92 games, ijs

They were some of the best ever, but it's basketball--no one's truly infallible, especially given the fact that the athletes of today are some true freaks of nature.

It makes it very tiresome to discuss with some of them. It's like they think the game has been in one long continuous decline since then or something

My unscientific opinion is that a lot of people watched a few years of basketball past the Jordan era, noticed a decline, and stopped paying much attention in the later 2000 years. The game was really down in the early 2000's from a quality of players and overall play perspective. But right now the quality of play and the level of talent seems to be in another golden era for the sport, IMO.

A LOT of posters seem to think we are still in the Iverson era

I watched a lot of early-to-mid 90's NBA. Back then I had a better all-around interest in sports.

eventually Football just took over at some point. I couldn't hold as much interest in other sports anymore. It had nothing to do with what I felt about the product of the NBA/MLB either.

It is easier to identify with things when you have a high interest in them.

You'll probably be telling some younger cat how the NBA was so much better in 2015 one day compared to what it will be in 2025 or 2030.

it happens

Agreed.

I find it telling that the people who tend to watch the most basketball are backing today's players. The people who get offended by this kind of thread usually cannot name half of the '92 Dream Team's roster. They usually resort to arguments like "Michael Jordan rah rah rah."

ETA: The OP's title is going to set off a lot of old guys in the morning, and rightfully so, but the overall theme is still solid.

Okay, you are right.

It wouldn't have anything to do with it at all.

closed case.

that's it.

I agree with the OP. I think the players today would win. I don't know about "wreck".

Defenses are better today. They take defense seriously now in the NBA to an extent not seen in the past.

Players now understand the importance of the 3-pointer. 1-4 today can hit the 3 and they like to run and uptempo style.

The Dream Team would be a little confused with the style of play today.

Nah, I don't think I'll still be crowing about "ZOMG THE GREATEST REDEMPTION TITLE RUN OF ALL TIME BY DA GAWDS TIMMY/TONY/MANU TO SLAY DA KANG IN MIA AND SEND HIM CRYING HOME TO CLEVELAND!!!" 10-15 years from now.

Actually, I think I will....I think I will

This is quite true, actually.

I think Curry would be confused when Magic had him in the block, but yeah, there would be confusion.

ETA: I watch more nba basketball now then I ever did then, and you guys are out of your flicking mind. Also, Magic would guard the 2, MJ would guard the 1 and pippen, arguably the greatest defensive SF would handle the wing.

Dream team has a marked advantage in the post.

Durant is average defender. AD23 would have trouble with the beef. Is Boogie cousins your center? Lol

As much trouble as CP would give Magic, it would go the same way when magic has the ball.

Lebron v MJ would be epic tho.

Wreck may be strong wording, but I think today's team would win a 7 game series with relative ease.

The fact of the matter is guys like Magic and Bird would be huge liabilities on defense at any time they were in the game. I think the Bigs of 92 would struggle with guys like AD and Gasol who can shoot and stretch the floor. And Westbrook is a matchup nightmare. Not to mention, Pippen is probably the only one on that team who can check Lebron, which leaves huge mismatches on a guy like KD.

No ones gonna guard MJ, but let him get his and I don't see another matchup 92 could exploit repeatedly.

ETA- maybe in the post on defense, but that's why I have Ibaka and DJ on the roster

I haven't watched basketball since 1998, so I will assume you are wrong. When Jordan retired, any interest I had in the game of basketball at any level quickly evaporated. I haven't even heard of most of the people on your current day dream team.

Magic was already HIV positive and retired. Bird had hurt his back a few years earlier. They were non factors by 92. Go back to '88 and lets talk.

And it goes both ways. There isn't a player on the 92 team with the athleticism to match up with AD. He gives up size, they give up athleticism.

Plus as I said, guys like DJ could effectively guard those bigs- not completely stop them but reasonably contain them

Robinson Malone and Barkley aren't superstar athletes? I'm out. The retards have taken over the MSB again.

Not irrelevant when you can't draw opinions on both teams & players. A 10 yr old can't. You're talking out your arse as usual
