I mean I'm not saying Barkley doesn't have a place in this game, I just wouldn't love the idea of having him guard LeBron

He's the best option for 92
Pippen no needed somewhere else
Malone not quick enough
Robinson out of position
Jordan maybe but then you make your best scorer Kobe '12 and I don't want that
But here's the question people aren't answering
The 92 team comes out
Jordan
Pippen
Barkley
Robinson
Ewing
Who are you going to stop with who? The matchups are just as bad defensively for 15

No one is disputing Barkley was great or was a great athlete. The idea that he knew how to move on the perimeter with a guy like Durant is a stretch though. Durant has handles Barkley wouldn't know what to do with.
Would Barkley roast him on the other end? Absolutely. But Durant would give as good as he got.

He's a nightmare matchup for anyone. But for people to laugh at a 6'6" or 6'7" guy guarding him is laughable. That happens all the time, for there aren't many guys his height that can move with him.
It's a nightmare matchup for Chuck yet there are people here acting like 1992 would shut these guys down without much of an issue. Durant is one of the few players I've ever seen where he can look like he's having an off day and then you peek at the stat sheet and say "holy shite when did he score 40?". He makes scoring look so effortless, and if you stick Barkley on him, I'm giving the ball to Durant every time and letting Barkley pick his poison.

The silly aspect of this argument is that Barkley was never regarded as a great defender. Nobody thinks he'd slow down Durant, let alone Chuck Person.

Hey, im on record saying Lebron and Durant would be pretty much unguardable. They'd keep the game close. Im not sure many of the current players would scare the Dream Team very much tho.

15s say YOLO and roll with Curry, Thompson, Durant, LeBron, Davis. Shoot a ton of 3s and run all the time.
ETA: Doesn't mean I think they win.Because I dont

I like how everyone says it's Barkley on Durant when we all know it wouldn't be the case.

Not reading this dumb arse thread, but just in case no one has mentioned it. ..Christian Laetner tips the scale in favor of the dream team.

No shite. But people have seriously said Barkley on Durant.

Just responding to a poster who mentioned it as a matchup
Posted on 3/6/15 at 9:27 pm to RTR America
I said Barkley LeBron Pippen Durant then somehow in less than a page it became Durant Barkley

I mean, Durant and Lebron are transcendent players. No one in the history of the sport could "stop" them.
durant has gotten off in every playoff series he's been a part of and he still has no hardware to show for it. Lebron went off against the Spurs last year and still couldn't win. Those guys could still get theirs and would still be on the losing end to the 92 guys. They were just more complete, fundamentally sound basketball players.

I agree. 92 wins the game and the series. I do think it's a hell of a game though.
Healthy Kawhi and Melo would be interesting though.

Give me DeAndre Jordan's statline if he were transposed to 1995.

I'll take my chances with 2 7 footers who had decent mid range games and power games.
