they play 31 games, I think they can handle the 30+ plus minutes. IMO that is a weak excuse.

2 games a week isn't that much, we should be able to over come depth issues. Most high schools play near 30 games

You're being far too kind. It's a non-excuse for 18-21 year olds playing just two games per week.

Very weak.

These guys aspire to play in the NBA, 82 games and 48 minutes per game.

As it stands right now, those that may/may not go pro should be fully rested for their 0-4 minutes per game.

The minutes aren't a good excuse. These are college kids with young legs. They only play a 30 game schedule, not like the 82 game NBA grind. Sure, I'd like more depth, but our guys can push through a little fatigue.

I'm afraid the lack of energy and sense of urgency comes from the head coach, who looks asleep at the wheel.

I could maybe buy it if we tried to press teams for all 40 minutes but we don't even press at all.

I do think Jones has done a bad job managing the limited bench we have. They aren't great players on it but they can at least give our horses a break. That still doesn't excuse mickey and martin deciding that it is cool to not hustle.

Also with tons of timeouts in a game now.

Agree with both of you.

CJJ rarely uses 1st half only timeout. Tonight was another night he didn't use it. You figure at some point if fatigue is an issue, he would make use of that freebie. Or use it when the opposition is on an 11-0 run. Instead he waits to media timeouts and ends up losing the 1st half timeout 90% of the time.

The depth shite is over blown. Teams like DUKE dont have a deep bench and they seem to be doing fine.

They are playing 37+ minutes and are playing tough minutes against 2-3 guys (who are also 18-22) subbing in and out and double teaming them.

Defend this: Coach Jones uses his bench less than every single team in D-1. Either
1) Jones is a genius and smarter than every other coach in basketball
2) He has the worst bench in all of college basketball
3) Coach Jones is doing it wrong

I'm sorry. We are playing against teams that are not that talented. We have a bench full of players who would get time playing for any of the teams we lost to except Kentucky.

This team has yet to understand the concept of putting a body on the opposition. They almost never anticipate where a rebound will fall. Tennessee was pushing them around all night long. Its frustrating to watch smaller less talented players control us and push us out of position time after time.

When/if John Brady is fired, Jones should hire him to teach rebounding.

LSU has two really good players, one of them has struggled lately. They have four guards that are SEC players. When two or more struggle which is common, the Tigers are in trouble. Tonight Hornsby played well and TQ was ok. Patterson didn't do anything and Gray was a bit better. Martin played ok and Mickey did not. When this happens LSU isn't beating too many teams.

It's not like they did anything to get tired tonight. They passed it around the zone D slowly for 30 seconds.

Either Malone or Gray gets called the worst player to ever play for LSU every game and they're legitimately the best two players off the bench.

I am aware, just saying with tv timeouts and team timeouts and if your team isn't deep, should be plenty of times in a game to give your players a rest. That is bad coaching. Players getting tired shouldn't be that big of an issue this day and age.

The most minutes that any forward is averaging in the NBA is LeBron James at 36.2 minutes a night, which is less than what Mickey and Martin play. And the NBA plays quarters and has TV timeouts too.

My oldest stepson is 18 and as of last night they have 31 or 32 games. He almost never comes out of the game and he plays damn hard every minute he's on the court. This is a bullshite excuse.

Prior to tonight, both Martin and Mickey averaged less than 35.3 minutes per game.

The NBA also plays 82 games, usually 4 per week. LSU plays 2 games a week with 3-4 days rest between games.

Show us a box score and give us a win loss record. Also keep in mind that few players can do it but they usually have to be a guard (runs about 10% less than a forward) and be comparatively light.
