I am officially DONE with student loans!!!

Wife- ~$30k

Took us 5 yrs but we are officially done!! Feels so good! We only have the house note left, and probably a car note coming up but I can handle that.

Wife and I have $248,000 combined in student loans.

I'll have it paid off in 5-7 years.

I've got about 45K from grad school. On track for 5 year payoff.

There's a good article on linkedin about it.

If you cut out stupid stuff, like eating out at lunch, making expensive dinners, you can really cut into it pretty quickly, assuming you are bringing in a solid income.

I'm 30 making a good bit over $100k. She's about to start a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology. Life is...will be good.

My boss insisted that I get my MBA. That is paying off. I also had about $16,000 from undergrad. A little too much fun at LSU. Got cut off.

Wife- ~$52k

That was from her undergrad and she is still working on her masters. We've knocked off the high interest rates and whittled down the total balance to about $33k. Now we are focusing more on savings and paying current bills. All but two of her remaining loans are subsidized and will not be hurting us until she finishes her graduate school. We plan to have the bulk, if not all, of her loans paid off over the course of the next 2 to 3 years.

Married life has been a much higher expense than I originally anticipated

Almost 70k originally, down to about 17k currently in 4.5 years. Also managed to buy a house and pay for most of my wedding in that time.

If your wife runs up any credit cards and she has a Roth IRA. Pull money out of her Roth to pay that shite off. Trust me it works wonders at teaching a lesson.

I luckily have zero credit card debt at this point. I just stay away and leave them in case of an emergency. I would never spend enough on one for the rewards or points to really mean much.

The amount that my gf and probably soon wife spends is shocking. Luckily she is still on the tit but I quiver thinking about when it lands on my dime.

$35 for eye brows, $35 for nails, $60 for hair and just stupid crap left and right. It drives me insane.

She just graduated and is seeking her first real job, going to be a very rude awakening finding out where and how fast her paycheck goes.
