but he still leads team in total bases, XBH, RBI, 2nd in HR.
Can that be because he's always in the lineup and always at the top? The only other player with enough ABs to compete would be Laird. Or maybe Hale.

Why is he our best hitter? Because people say so? At what point is Bregman judged by what he does instead of what people think he can do?

Bregman has been one of our top hitters the last two seasons. Batting .369 as a freshman and .316 as a sophomore. I think that is a pretty good indication on what he does.

your argument won't stand if he stays around .300

You are correct, and he might very well stay at 300, but the others will probably drop down to 300 come season's end.

On a lighter note..I love how we are arguing if Bregman is our best hitter or not..we have a good ball team this year.

And I'm not saying to bench Chinea and cut his ABs in a 3rd.

Id hope not bc he will most certainly be in the lineup against lefties after what he did last year and has continued to do this year.

I agree. The top being top 3.

He's actually "struggled" vs. Lefties this year and killed righties. It's been odd.

Well I expect Sciv to be catching most SEC games at this point so he won't be at DH.

sure. And im not going to pretend he's playing at an all american pace, but we also shouldnt pretend that it's a sheer volume thing either. He'd be right in the mix even if those guys got more ABs. Definitely a good problem to have. Im not sure why its being turned into a negative. You know the guy is gonna hit.

Anyone else notice Chinea swings at some shitty pitches?
He puts them in play, and usually hard hit balls, be he chops at a lot of stuff around his head.

It sounds negative because I'm wording it "move Bregman back" rather than "move others up". But that's really all I'm saying.

Guys have been moved all over the lineup. Taken out. Changed positions. But he's stayed at the top regardless of results. And he's always the last to be removed from a blowout. He gets the most PT, the most ABs. And all I'm saying is maybe we have other guys who could be more productive given that many opportunities.

As long as he hits them on the ground then it's better than KRob hitting lazy flies to the outfield.

Some good hitter is going to be on the bench.

It will get easier as the season goes along because some guys will inevitably cool off.

Bergman is seeing the ball well and hitting the ball hard. Not much finding the holes. Coaches and scouts Measure a hitter by quality at-bats. Hard hit outs are quality at-bats. His average will improve tremendously by seasons end if he keeps putting bat on ball. In Raph Rhymes .400 season I would like to know how many bloopers and weak hits found holes. Hence the reason he wasn't a high draft pick. Baseball is a very unforgiving game at times. Coaches and scouts are not idiots.
