Players who have started every game

Bregman
Hale
Laird

Chinea

One of these is not like the other. No reason Scivique shouldn't be DHing at this point when he's taking a rest at catcher.

Also, Bregman's average has dropped below .300 again. Anyone who thinks he should be where he is in the lineup based on results is delusional.

It's baseball. People go through slumps. You don't take your best hitter out of the lineup or move him down in the lineup just because he is in a funk. You allow him to keep getting out and change nothing so he can more easily come out of the slump.

Just like in basketball, if a good shooter is in a funk, just tell him to keep shooting.

Why is he our best hitter? Because people say so? At what point is Bregman judged by what he does instead of what people think he can do?

Chad Jones does not agree with this sentiment

I semi agree with this. Bregman is looked at for his potential not for what he actually does although I do think he is a good hitter and one of our best maybe not the best though. He has a lot of talent and I think he will stay somewhere around .320-.330 avg most of the yr. He will get out of this slump soon

i think he's earned that position over the last 2 years. It's not always about immediate results, but the potential threat and how other teams pitch that player. I want him at the top of the lineup.

But i agree about Kade. Maybe the thought is they want to keep his legs fresh & don't want him running the bases. If i remember correctly he really cooled off last year as the summer drew on.

I think he is our best hitter because I've seen the way he hits the ball when he is on. Also, so have major league scouts. I tend to believe scouts more than someone on a message board when it comes to talent..

To be honest none of our players save for Kramer have done anything to deserve being taken out the lineup for their offense.

I like him at 2B, but I'm just talking about offensive production.

That's a fair point in general. My only response would be that at one point last year, pitchers were giving him fastballs in 1-2, 2-2 counts and he was still having issues with them. Of course, these were SEC pitchers and he was in the middle of his slump, but your argument won't stand if he stays around .300

He's not hitting the best on the team right now, but he still leads team in total bases, XBH, RBI, 2nd in HR. That's the mark of a middle of the order hitter.

I agree 100%. But who would you say is a better hitter than Bregman? Hale is extremely hot this season, and think he should be where Bregman is if you go off of production. But by season's end, I think Bregman will be the better choice.

I wondered about that. Agree.

Was he the best hitter on last years team? Has he been the best hitter in the first 12 games this year? Pretty big sample size if you ask me.

Katz and Rhymes aren't protecting him anymore.

Everyone here likes Bregman. Not everyone agrees with CPM's decisions concerning the lineup.

Not on their stand alone results. But we can compare them to each other.

And I'm not saying to bench Chinea and cut his ABs by a 3rd. I want him to DH when Sciv is hitting. At least for now; I think if Fraley and Foster both stay hot, he may get much, much less.
