The Constitution by W.Hickey

Printed 1850.

A copy was given to every member of Congress and Senate as well as every Federal Judge. Don't know where my grandfather acquired it but I took possession when he died.

Also gave an old Polygot Bible from 1815.

I had a Russian professor at LSU take a look at it years ago and he said it predates the current cyrillic and the book was religious.

For the guy who has the book from 1400s, is it leather bound? I was reading something about how it was considered an honor to bound books in the skins of deceased loved ones. They did a study of harvards library and they found a few books like that.

Yes, leather bound...

Wife has a super old copy of DeToquevilles Democracy in America. Was always curious how much it's worth. I think its like 1880s old, not 1835... So probably not a ton.

I like to collect old History books and childrens and young adult books, here are some of my favorites.

I really like this 1880's History book on the presidents, it's thicker than my most recent presidents book that goes up to W.

I have this book that traces the source of the Mississippi river.

I really like the illustrations in this 1900 kids book. Also cool that it was twice given as a gift in the early 20th century.

My oldest book is a hide-bound ancient Greek and Roman history book. It is from the 1830's, it's very interesting and goes from biblical history to the fall of Rome. It was a University textbook back then. Amazing to think almost 200 years ago someone was in college with this book.

I used to have a book published in 1912. "Penrod," by Booth Tarkington. It belonged to my grandfather when he was a boy. I think one of my nephews has it now.

I have 2 or 3 pre-1900 books. However all are related to Wesleyanism or Methodism.

My cousin is a rare bible broker, has one on his website valued at $5,000,000(retail of course). It is a mint condition, first edition of the King James Bible.
