As long as it's under interests or something like that.

if the application has a hobbies/interests - sure. if the interviewer asks about outside interests - also a yea. i dont put hobbies on my resume though, unless its very directly related.

marathon runner could be a discussion point that shows commitment, discipline, etc... though, if asked.

Well you could look at that two ways:
1. You post on TD, instant positive. Especially if most of your posts are on the OT
2. You post on TD, instant negative. Especially if most of your posts are on the OT

Aren't all marathon runners required to put 26.2 on everything around them? I'd assume it'd be on the cover letter at least.

Just plop that sticker up on there

I would - particularly if you qualified to run Boston or NY, for example.

That's a lot of work and suggests a better work ethic than the average, Xbox playing, Dorito eating American.

No. Somebody who has time to run marathons obviously doesn't spend too many hours working or they would be too tired from work to run marathons.

depending on position being applied for, and what the companies culture is like. also if there is an interest/hobbies section

Do people really have a "hobbies/interests" section on their resume?

I would definitely not put that on my résumé.

I wouldn't either, that's why I have a personal website that pops up if someone googles my name.

Just put the 26.2 sticker on the resume.

Also, include a head shot. No matter what the position, that'll get your foot in the door. I'm actually getting a video resume together to start submitting. Kind of like trying to get on the Real World, but more professional obviously.

Neither would I, but the CMT*s are starting to do it en masse. I received one the other day that had more about her hobbies than experience.

ETA: This is a trend in resumes. Gone are the days of the classic resume. For entry-level positions, I'd guess I get 40 percent crap like this (no substance), 40 percent Word template resumes and 20 percent good resumes.

It shows high energy, dedication, and that you're possibly very healthy (at least heart healthy). Those are all positives.

That said, they will probably ask you about your hobbies in the interview, so having a Hobbies/Interests section on your resume screams "I don't have lots of experience and just needed to fill up space".
