Panama City Beach -
A rare Great White Shark sighting on the Gulf Coast, this one actually caught in the surf near Panama City Beach.

According to the Dark Side Sharkers fishing club, Derrick Keeny caught this 9' 8 1/2" Great White Sunday, March 1st.

They snapped a few pictures, tagged and released the shark.

We found these images on Facebook.

Not saying I'd mess with any Great White, or any shark, much over about 3 ft, but does anyone else think question that 9'-8" length when looking at that bottom pic? Unless those guys are about 4'-6" tall....Or maybe its a shrinkage issue with the cold water?

Yeh, first pic looks legit. Maybe second pic is another fish.

Top pick is a white, but I don't think the bottom is. Look at the black tip on the dorsal fin

check out the Ocearch shark tracker. They have tons of GPS tracks on tagged Great Whites all over the gulf.

Katherine is one that like to travel around the keys and up towards Panama City. They have another one that spends alot fo time around Tampa Bay.

I do...I just think its the angle.

The gentleman holding it looks to be rather portly....so I'd assume 3 feet between his shoulders/hand grip. Another 3 feet to the mouth, and the tail is still behind him.

BUT Yikes man!!

This is pretty awesome. Knew we had some in the gulf and I've seen picts of big Sharks being caught in the surf. But this is the first time I've seen a great white caught in the surf, in the northern gulf.
