Depends on the company. Enjoy that cushy foreman position.

You expect to get hired on in the oil patch as a part time job from your teaching job and I am the bitch?

We deal in 24 / 7 days and not 180 8 - 3 days. What exactly did you expect from an oilfield job?

When I used to work 7 12s it was the only time I saved money . Work every day and no time to spend it. I fricked up and took a salaried position.

Not going to happen this summer. Layoffs occurring nonstop right now, but your best bet would be driving a truck. Be a water hauler. No service company is going to allow you to work 2 months out of year I.e. an slb, Halliburton, BH, weatherford

I was just inquiring to see what was available. I didn't say I wanted a super easy slack off job, I said I wanted a seasonal job that pays decent money. I've got no problem working weeks at a time doing manual labor on a rig or a pipeline.
I know the oil business hires a lot of seasonal workers and I'm just trying to figure out what could be available.

I don't know why you are getting so defensive? I didn't say I wanted to walk in and be a foreman making 100 grand.

Not defensive. The majority of the jobs for the summer usually involve slinging iron. This is only a job someone takes to make a career in the oilfield. Not a job you take on a summer break. I wish you the best in finding something. You might even find a career change is in your plans after a few months. The oil patch is very rewarding but demanding.

It's a tough time for oilfield work with prices being so low. It's hard enough to get a temp oilfield job when it's booming, now it's probably impossible. I'm sure there's other places to look, but If not you could always bartend.

I'm sure he doesn't mind "slinging iron" to get some $$

Yea just because I'm a teacher doesn't mean I don't know how to work with my hands. Slinging iron for $$$ sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, but only for a few months

yeah dude you are coming across as a huge douche in this thread.

dude obviously has no problems working with his hands to get some money...

you should be celebrating that, not assume he is a pussy because he's a teacher.

Roustabout on a work over rig offshore is what I did for cash in the summer. Was good $ for a broke arse student.
I'd Find a turnaround or a 40+ hour project in a plant. No skills can get you a hole watch, fire watch, spotter, or helper job. Go to one of the big plant construction companies and drop a application. Need to get some safety and security cards I think. Other folks in here can chime in on that.
