Yea I think my distaste for it is more just reactionary in proportion to the amount of people who absolutely love it.
I hate that filming style with all the grainy images and text on the screen.

I thjnk it's mostly the goofy bar scene (with the apples etc) that made me not like it. Actually except for that scene it's an ok movie. Maybe hate is too strong a word. I just hate that one scene.

As for me? The more I catch The Avengers on tv the more I hate it. Loki is a pussy and none of the heroes ever get in any sort of life threatening danger. It's the most simple minded movie with the lowest stakes I've ever seen for a superhero movie.
This time a bajillion. The avengers is terrible.

I didn't think Man on Fire sucked, but I was underwhelmed.. so I could understand.
Way too much style over substance

No, my impression of that flick is "weirdness for weirdness sake", found it so boring, didn't get into it at all, and I like Gene Hackman.
"Hotel New Hampshire" was a better weird, dysfunctional-family type flick.
"Moonstruck" was one film that was "overblown", it seemed it couldn't decide whether it was a comedy or a drama and the mix of both at times was just silly.

Inglourious Basterds? Cringed the whole time. It made me feel sick.
Not that it would change for yall.. but I hated IB first watch.. but I've seen it again and liked it.. and then the more I see it the more I love it.
I dont know if I could stomach a second viewing. The whole time I endured it, I could just see Tarantino patting himself on the back for being so clever in his own mind. I also hated the pacing. Certain set pieces went on FOREVER and prominent characters disappeared from view for way too long.

See, the sad thing about a guy like you is, in 50 years you're gonna start doin' some thinkin' on your own and you're going to come up with the fact that there are two certainties in life: one, don't do that, and two, you dropped 150 grand on a frickin' education you could have got for a dollar fifty in late charges at the public library!
One of the best lines in the movie.

You're insufferable sometimes. Why don't you just say you don't like historical war/action movies?
What?!
My disliking them has nothing to do with the genre, I assure you. I could list a hundred historical war movies that I loved.
Terrible writing, terrible cinematography, and plenty of awful overacting to go around.
Also, LOL at you calling those "historical." The British burning colonists in churches
Dreadful movies. Just dreadful
