This. Seems like they want every movie about uplifting minorities to win Oscars regardless if the movie sucks or not.

Thems fighting words. That was maybe Val Kilmers best performance of his career, and by far the best performance of the movie. But to each their own.

This big time, and I'm not a Val Kilmer fan

First of all, I agree about My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I usually like small, independent films. I have one small criterion, though . . . it must be well written with interesting characters. This one failed all the way around.

I didn't like Avatar. Boring and derivative.

LOTR movies . . . boring and I never gave a shite about the source material.

Inception . . . great to look at but the "sophisticated" and "complex" plot was absurd and boring.

And while I don't know that it was a smash hit generally, a lot of people on this board seem to love Boondock Saints. I just don't see it.

Pretty much how I feel. I don't find LOTR 'boring' but I never got into the books and so the movies just didn't resonate with me. Boondock Saints is crap altogether. Inception didn't do it for me either. It was alright, but not some classic.

Two is ok. It was the one I didn't get tired while watching. One is just meh. Three is horrible.

Not that it would change for yall.. but I hated IB first watch.. but I've seen it again and liked it.. and then the more I see it the more I love it.. This happens with a lot of Tarantino movies for me.

Just finished watching every Wes Anderson movie, loved all of them with Budapest as my #1, but i could not get into the Royal Tenenbaums at all. No idea why, maybe Gene Hackman

Looking at IMDB's top 250, I can't say that I hate any of those movies, though I think about 175 of them are vastly overrated.

I'm the exact opposite. I think RT is the best thing Anderson ever made. The rest are just the same film remade over and over again. TGBH was more unique than the rest though.

Boom. I watch this one a few times a year.

Also watch Aquatic, even thought I didn't really like it when it first came out.

I liked GBH but I doubt I add that to my regular watch schedule.

Burned out on Bottle Rocket and Rushmore because I watched them so many times when they first hit the net.

I'm with you about the Oscars and other award shows involving uplifting minority movies for attention, but I thought 12 Years a Slave was a great movie. Maybe not the best movie of 2013, but a damn good one.

This was a pretty good flick and if its on I'll watch it again, just not a great movie, maybe your disappointment was the "over-hyped" part, that it wasn't what you expected to see.

Titanic is the movie that I didn't care for much, a few good moments, but overall have no interest in watching again.

I thought Man on Fire sucked balls. Antoine Fuqua is worse than Michael Bay.

I did buy into the hype, and perhaps unfairly went into watching it with unreasonably high expectations. You have a good point.

I didn't think Man on Fire sucked, but I was underwhelmed.. so I could understand.

So many people absolutely love that movie.
