I was at that game too...and not as a fan, you must be a rummel fan.
Im surely not a RR fan, just making a notation that he was not really impressive in that game.

look at what any other QB has done against rummel this year and let me know how they fared in comparison.
THIS RIGHT HERE.....I dont really know or really expect the other QBs to hv special games or do well,....but I would expect someone with all the attn: he has bn getting, to do well.....again might not hv bn his best game,,,,big game.. bigtime plyrs need to show up...again hope he turns out to a big time qb and LSU gets him...

For a 4A high school kid with an under sized offensive line to complete more than 50% of his passes for almost 300 yards and 3 td's against the best 5A defense in the state....I would call that a pretty big game.

Hope Cole comes to LSU. Cannot have too much backup at QB.

Time will tell on this but i will be willing to bet that at the end of this summer your mind is changed i have seen both of them play in person both good however kelly is to me much better than patterson. You cannot coach being 6'6 or natural arm strength

Interesting. Bc way I see it our "mobile" qbs have been the Achilles heel of this program for a fricking decade. LFornette is mobile. DWilliams is mobile. TQuinn and Dupree and diarse and travin are all mobile. Recruit somebody that can make smart decisions and get those guys the ball. Frick.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Well most people see Kelly's potential...yeah can't coach 6'6 but the reason Patterson is who he is cause he has been coached by pros since he could walk. He's a robot. Just watched a video where ESPN said he has the best chance to walk in and start as freshmen in the 2016 class. I do believe cole could have a bigger upside and would do well in the LSU offense. I'm hoping he is the 2nd QB we take in 2016.

I have to agree again with that. The "mobile" qbs have been the achilles heel of the offense for years. Kelly is the most similar to met and that was when the offense was the most multiple and able to do way more in the vertical game. I am a fan of kelly

After the rivals QB competition this weekend cole Kelly isn't even in the same stratosphere as Patterson dude

This is a crock of shite.

Make no mistake, part of the issue last year was the use of LSU's quarterback and what Cam Cameron asked of them, but the idea that the two quarterbacks somehow don't fit what LSU wants to do because they're not a big, slow, statuesque quarterback like Zach Mettenberger is both wrong and kind of silly. Quarterbacks with mobility have been fitting into pro-style offenses for decades, and even in this age of the spread offense, the pass concepts don't really change.
quote:
As for the notion of a "pro-style" versus a "dual-threat" quarterback, consider names like John Elway, Warren Moon, Joe Montana, Steve Young, Randall Cunningham, Steve McNair and Donovan McNabb. Would you turn down the opportunity to have one of those guys run this offense in their primes? Of course you wouldn't. Is Jennings or Harris anywhere near that class? Of course not. But their inability to run LSU's offense successfully last year had nothing to do with the one particular quality so many are seizing on, so much as their overall quality as players in 2014.

I find it hilarious that these fools are dissing mobile QBs, yet every QB we are after, minus Haskins, runs on their highlights.
Franks, Guarantano, Peters, Pass
guys that we were looking at Patterson, Kelley.
The knuckleheads will have to get it into their thick skulls, that mobility in a pro style offense has been going on forever and will continue to. Look at Bama's last few QB offers, commits, and signees. Look at what Jimbo has been doing forever. Aaron Murray ran for 900 yards as a high school senior (I think that qualifies as being dual threat).
It's all about the type of QB you get here, the type of way he is coached (more as a passer, less as a runner), and what way you want to utilize him.
I mean Kelley runs the got damn read option in high school and is never under center, but you got people who don't want dual threats, and don't want spread QBs, really wanting him here. Same with Chad Kelly from JUCO. Ran a spread, ran read option, dual threat, from high school til last year, yet before they realized how much of a bdat he was, they were dying to sign him. Same with Braxton Miller.
I mean seriously guys, either you hate mobile or dual threats and/or spread QBs in high school, or you don't. If you do, I think you are a moron, if you don't, make up your mind because Cole Kelley is the definition of a mobile QB.

People just associate Melanin with DT capabilities. Sad but true.

Preach man. One of LSU's biggest issues concerning the quarterback position since Fisher left, has been that the instability at OC. Not only that but the type of teachers on the staff to train the position were subpar. It's all lead to compete destruction of the succession process at the position.
There's always the fools bashing the fact LSU runs a pro style offense. There's nothing wrong with running this style of offense in college IF a program is able groom the QB next in line, for at least one season prior to being named the starter. Two years is even better. There's no way anything positive will be accomplished offensively throwing a true freshman into a pro style offense. Look at the programs who have had success running pro style offenses & developing QB's over the last 15 years. USC, FSU, Georgia & Alabama all had one common denominator & that is during their successful runs, they have been mostly able to hand over the QB job to players who had/have been on campus already for 2-3 years. Hell, Jimbo was to the point where he had the succession process in place before he left LSU.
LSU's whole process began to go down the shitter when Perrilloux had to be given the boot. It forced Jefferson & Lee to have to play before they were ready. Add in the fact Gary Crowton overloaded them with entirely too much information & we all saw the clusterfrick that created.
Losing out on Gunner Kiel created this void once again after losing Mett. Harris should have been able to have been redshirted without any pressure to play at all. Jennings should have been a back up with Kiel starting as a redshirt sophomore.
Cam's working on correcting the QB problems but as we learned last season, it wasn't going to be an overnight fix after Mett moved on. Watch the videos of practice closely. He pushes Harris harder than the other guys. Good teachers push their star pupils harder than the rest in order to get them to reach their full potential. Cameron's banking on Harris' development so that when the next guy(s) who make it to campus, won't have the pressures of playing right away & he can use that time to have them game ready.
The ones who keep with the same repetitive bullshite are too narrow minded to see the entire picture. Any logical person would be able to look back at the previous issues & see that the program is headed in the right direction finally with quarterback development.

As much as I hate to admit it, there seems to be some truth to this.
